Rai dear mr rai, narmaly indian/vedic etymology the word "A" used for the sense of "NO"or "NON",for example "Abrahmana"="A person who is not brahmana, similarly sura means a comunity of devine ones or "DEVATA",and asura means persons who are not devas or other than devas, these terms are commonly used for definition etc.But according to yask's etymology ,the word "ASU"indicates the vital source of life"praanaa and therefore the word asura "in RgVeda"also stands for strong or well built persons. I hope this may clarify your doubts. spsharma
