Zorastrians have been a model community in India. They are involved in so many creative things, and are model citizens of secular India. They are also the makers of Mumbai. The best hospitals, schools, instituions for the aged, etc. have been funded and built by the Parsees. India is a cricket-crazy nation, and the Parsee community was the first Indian community to take to cricket in a big way. They were part of the Triangular, Quadrangular and Pentagular cricket tournaments that used to take place in Mumbai. A Parsee team was the first Indian team to beat a touring European side. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HINDI GRANTH KARYALAY http://www.hindibooks.8m.com Booksellers and Publishers Hirabaug, C. P. The Parsi Zoroastrian Exhibition was mentioned in the Prime Minister's inaugural address to the Internation Conference :"Dialogue among Civilizations" in the following terms: "It is a fitting tribute to India's longstanding tradition of tolerance that the Zoroastrians, a prominent Minority Community, are holding an Exhibition to herald the Celebrations of the 3000th year of Zoroastrianism to coincide with this Conference. They comprise less than 0.01% of our Country's population. Yet, they have made a major contribution to many walks of our National life. The world needs to recognize the greatness of the Zoroastrian Faith and Culture, and help in its protection and resurgence. The Government of India has lent full support in organizing this exhibition, which will be taken to the other parts of the Country". A three-day programme on the theme of the Zoroastrian Culture is being organized at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai from 2nd to 4th October. Amongst other items, the Five Rupee Dadabhai Naoroji Commemorative Coin minted by the Government of India is being ceremonially released by Mr. Jaswant Singh, Finance Minister of India. I am sure you will like to pass on this information to your many friends. Wishing you and yours a Happy Parsi New Year. Sincerely, Ret'd. General Adi M. Sethna - Indian Army.
