Guest guest
> I need to find someone who is thourghly familiar with Tarkalankara's > edition of Madhava' Commentary on Parasara Smriti. Why not use VAman ZAstri IslAmapurkar's edition (Bombay 1893-1919 = Bombay Sanskrit Series 47-48, 59, 64, 67 and 74) which has a larger critical aparatus than Tarkalankara's? > I have found > Dutt's English translation and need help locating section in > Tarkalankara's edition. Dutt's translation is only a translation of the mUla text (ParAzarasmRti), not MAdhavAcArya's commentary (the ParAzaramAdhavIya), and it is apparently not based on the same manuscripts as those that Tarkalankara and Islamapurkar used. Another (and better) translation of the smRti text is: KRshNakamal BhaTTAchrya's (Bibliotheca Indica, N.S. 567, Calcutta 1887: The Asiatic Society). This is much more in accordance with both Tarkalankara's and Islamapurkar's editions. regards Mikael -------------------------- Mikael Aktor, assistant professor, Ph.D., Department of the Study of Religions, University of Southern Denmark, Campusvej 55, DK-5230 Odense M, Denmark.
