On raghuvaMza (6.22), mallinAtha in his commentary also says --- " nakSatrair-azvinyAdibhis-tArAbhiH sAdhAraNair-jyotirbhir-grahair-bhaumAdibhizca". As I understand, there is a clear distinction between nakSatra (constellation) and tArA (star). A nakSatra is a specific group of stars, while the term "star" is used for an individual heavenly body having its own light. Kind regards.
