Guest guest
Greetings- This conversation has quickly gone out of my depth, but what I am wondering about it the importance of particular sounds in the theory of mantra recitation. How much importance is actually given to the sounds being "correct" as opposed to the intent of the reciter? If the sounds themselves are important, it has always seemed to me an all or nothing proposition: either the sounds must be a certain way for the mantra to "work", or the sounds are secondary to the intent of the reciter, in which case any mantra, or none at all, could be used just as well. If there is regional variation in pronounciation, then how could there be a "science" of mantra which requires precision? Looking forward to elucidation of this point. thanks Dante
