There is the "LaukikanyAyANjaliH: A Handful Of Popular

Mxims" by G.A.Jacob [in three parts]1904-07.

Here is what is in the book on

kUTa-kArSApaNa-nyAyaH [page23-24, in the third part]

"The maxim of the [the unwitting employment of] base

money [in one's business]. It is used by KumArila (in

TantravArtika 1,3,3,page 95)in the course of an

argument on the relative value of zruti and smRiti. He

maintains that if any teaching of the latter is found

to be in opposition to that of the former, it must be

given up; just as a man who finds that he has been

using counterfeit coins must at onca abstain from so

doing. The portion containing the nyAya is as follows:-

yo hi kUTakArSApaNena kamcitkAlamajJo lokamadhye

vyavaharati na tena vivekajJAnajanitovyutpattinApi

tathaiva vyavaharttavyam. The word kArSApaNa here

evidently means money in general, and not a coin of

certain value.Somezvara, however, in his commentary

nyAyasudhA (page 145, line 12) seems to take it in the

latter sense. He says:- yo hIti.

dvAtrimzatkRZNalarajataparimANamM kArSApaNaH.

kUTAkUTavilakSaNavivekajJAnena janitA vyutpattiH

kUTatvanizcayo yasya sa tahoktaH.

In TantavArtika (1, 3 ,8, page149 line 3 from bottom)

kumArila compares words to coins which can be tested

by intelligent people. He says:- zabdApabhraMzavadeva

gauNabrAntyAdiprayoganimittA arthApabhraMzA bhavanti

te zAstrasthairevAviplutArthakriyAnimittapuNyArthibhiH

zakyante sAdhyasAdhukArSApaNamadhyAdiva

tatparIkSibhir vivektum.

The nyAya is found in NyAyamajJari, page 162, as

follows. nApi bAdhakAbhAvaparicchedAtprAmANyanizcayaH

sa hi tAtkAliko vAsyAtkAlAntarbhAvI vA. tAtkAliko na

paryAptaH prAmANyaparinizcaye. kUTakArSApanAdau

kimcitkAlamanutpannavAdhae'pi kAlAntare tad

utpAdadarzanAt.

It occurs again on page 169, line 3, on page 187, line

4 from bottom,and on page 531, line 1."

Enjoy.

I had read this book sometime in 1942 when I was in the college. I remembered

the name of the book, but forgot the author's name. Had written to Indology

also about this. I really enjoyed reading the extracts

given by you.
