Dear Members,

Can somebody explain me the purpose of making certain dhaatus

udaattet in the PaaNinian dhaatupaaTha ? Is there any reference to such

dhaatus in the commentary or elsewhere ?

Thanks.

The udAtta+it category of dhAtus in the dhAtupATha needs to be

distinguished from the anudAtta+it and svarita+it dhAtus. The

latter two are subject to being classified as Atmanepadin by

P.1.3.12 and P.1.3.72. By being different from the latter two, the

udAtta+it dhAtus become parasmaipadin by zeSAt kartari parasmaipadam

(1.3.78).

Thank you very much, sir, for reply to my query. The term udaattet

does not occur in the Siddhaanta Kaumudii. In this work, the author

declares a series of dhaatus parasmaipadin directly instead of

calling them udaattet as in KshiiratarangiNii.

Kind regards
