Guest guest
Dear Indologists, There is a commonly cited verse in the Sanskrit grammatical literature: Ner aNAv iti sUtrArthaM bhagavAn vetti pANiniH / ahaM ca bhASyakAraz ca vRttikRd vetti vA na vA // K.V. Abhyankar in the Introduction volume to his father's Marathi translation of the mahAbhASya (p. 20, bhUmikA by V. Abhyankar) suggests that this is Pandita JagannAtha's verse, rejecting Bhattoji Diksita. On the other hand, during my recent visit to Pondichery, I heard Prof. S.D. Joshi say that this is Bhattoji's own claim, though he could not remember the source. If anyone knows the source, please let me know. Best wishes, Madhav Deshpande
