Guest guest
Ruchi: When I was being conditioned, in my childhood; most people thought of God as an old bearded man up in the sky somewhere; looking down on us and judging us to hellfire for our transgressions. Later in life, after doing some sadhana; Devas would appear to me in dreams and play with me. I now don't think that God wants us to fear Him. My experience is that God likes to play with us. , "ruchibabbar" <ruchibabbar wrote: > > Hi All, > > This could all be the workings of my mind, but I wnated to share with > you the dream I had two nights ago. > O.K I was having a restless night and bad dreams so I woke up and > stayed awake for a few hours. In the wee hours ofthe morning I fell > asleep and realized I was very effortlessly flying. Guest guest
Dear ruchi, My take on your dream is that it was a true insight. When human beings imagine God---priests, padris, and doctors of the Church, for instance---they tend to become pious, uptight, and a little hoity-toity, because they, perforce, carry their all-too-human-ness into the God-image. But when God imagines Himself to be a human being, He becomes, for instance, a "cool dude"---and irristable---because He carries His Divinity into the human-image. Swami Satyananda often uses the phrase "highest ideal of divinity", and that is what we are aspiring to, but we also need the occasional descent of the Divine to meet our sincere, but laborious, ascent from the human, in order to keep us on course. Is it not possible that Rama, Krishna, and Jesus were not also just such "cool dudes", at least in their youth, and that the hoity-toitys ommitted those elements from the record of their lives as being not dignified enough given their Divine stature? There is no doubt, however, that Narendra, the young Swami Vivekananda was such a "cool dude" in his youth and college days--and even to a degree into his later work in the West. The combination of Divine and human attributes is the ideal, and simply irrestabel when it appears. --and we are all destined to get there. Just give us a little more time please. Guest guest
Dear Tanmayajee and all, What you say is absolutely true. For the past few weeks I was wondering about all the people who are on a path proceding slowly falling here and there , and actually all of humanity, and their access to God. I was thinking we all are her/his children, and until we get to the summit do we have to miss her/his presence in our lives. I was also wondering about the fast pace of life in America and for that matter now in India too, and the modernization and technology and the unreasonable demands this kind of lifestyle makes on the spirit. This dream lifted a weight off me. It just made me realize to not take things too seriously and have fun in the process, in the jouney. Yes and I totally agree, Ram, Krishna, Jesus and for that matter our own Swamijee- the magnetism, the aura must have been truly amazing.
