Guest guest
amUrtA : Shapeless. That which has form is called mUrta. [Earth, water and fire]; amUrta means air and ether which are formless. or, MUrta, the five gross elements mingled with each other; aMurta, the subtle elements which are not migled with each other. For we see the above two explanations given by the comm. in the Sruti [br. Up., II. 3.1], "Brahman has two forms, MUrta and AmUrta" or, mUrta, universe, amUrta, Brahman. The Visnu Pr,. says, "That Brahman has two forms, MUrta and AmUrta, these two respectively perishable and imperishable an dboth are in all beings. The imperishable is the every remaining Brahman, the perishable is the ever remaining Brahman, the perishable is the whole universe" The Logicians explain the word mUtra that which has motion, but we should not adopt their theory as it has no foundation.
