Guest guest
this was nice, gypsyqueenb ) My guru gave me the following description about Shiva's appearance, I am repeating his words ----

Shiva is not a person or saint or rishi. HE is supreme consciousness, a body of light full of knowledge and bliss. By his appearance He sends us a message that anybody with these qualities will become Shiva. For example, He is half-naked, it denotes he is unattached with wordly desires and away from 3 gunas. He has third eye, means His Agya Chakra is fully activated and He sees through Maya. His eyes are fixed upwards (Shambhavi Mudra). His body is black, means He has Tamoguna in Physical world which denotes, his body does not rule him. He has serpent around his neck but they do not bite him rather He plays with them. Here snakes denote desires and lust which do not have control over Shiva. His hair are locked means his Chitta-vrittis are controlled and cocentrated in one thought. Ganges is coming out of his lock of hair, means when Vrittis are in control, Ganges of Knowledge emanates. He has a Trishool (Trident) which denotes with his three points of concentration on Knowledge, Light and Bliss, he can pierce any Maya. He Plays Damru (small drum) which denotes His prana over which he has full control and he can resonate his Prana at any frequency, which helps him destroy the world too.
He is smiling, which denotes He is always blissful and wordly worries do not overtake Him. He rides a bull, which signifies He has full control over the animal instincts.

any one who possesses these qualities will become SHIVA himself.

Oh ! will I ever be Shiva ?

awasthi
