Guest guest
Aum Namah Shivaye literlly translated is "I bow to shiva". The idea is,that the repetition of the syllables of the Mantra gradually purifies each of the elements in our body. The Mantra has the power to grant wordly fulfillment and spiritual realization. Shiva denotes divine consciousness, in inner self.

To further breakdown the elements :

Aum consists of five elements:
A-U-M (three syllables)
bindu ( the base,blue pearl)
Nada (the resonance that bathes the bindu)

Namah Shivaya consists of five elements:

Na (prithvi-earth solidity)
mah (ap-liquidity of water)
shi(tejas -burning fierceness of fire)
va(vayu-the air )
ya(akasa--space)

Five acts of Lord Shiva:

-To create
-To maintain
-To destroy
-to conceal
-To gracefully reveal

Five faces of Lord Shiva:

-Na (Indra the eastern face -yellow)
-Ma (Rudra, the southern face -black)
-shi (Vishnu, the western fce -smoky)
-va (Brahmaa, the northern face - golden)
-ya (Skanda, the upward face - red)

Om Namah Shavaya
Guest guest
Tks gypsyqueenb you have beautifully appreciated the (deserved) post of Shiv_oham. Has the mention of Neel-Bindu has really brought tears of ecstasy to your eyes ? ahhh... you are on the right path..pray continue !! And tks shiv for the pearl of wisdom, it did not go unnoticed !

Dear Uma tks for the beautiful verses. You always bring the right post at the right time.

I am in the clubs for the last three years and have been watching the prejudice of Bhaktas for Gyanis and Gyanis thinking Bhaktas as inferior. In the old sadhna club we had a looooong discussion on this. I may like to add again that this confrontation is basically a game of the mind which is always ready to befool us in each thing. I am of the view that:-

=> If i am practicing Gyan Yoga (janana) and my ego is still thinking in terms of individual unit, then my Yoga is incomplete and defective.

=> If I am doing Karma Yoga and still i am moved by the sorrows and enjoy the happiness, my yoga needs further rigorous sadhna.

=> If I am a Tantrik, and still a woman is seen as a "Bhogya" by me, I am a fake Tantrik.

=> If I am a Bhakta and I do not see all forms of Gods as my own Ishta Devta and if I am fanatic about my bhakti, it means the Bhakti Yoga has not crossed the limits of emotional infatuation for a particular diety.

A Bhakta is bound to be a Gyani and Karma yogi, and a Gyani is bound to be a Bhakta in the end. If this has not yet happened in our case, let us continue our sadhna and wait.....

God does not let his dear ones remain ignorant !!!

Hari Om

silentsoul
