Guest guest
Dear Sadhakas,

I am enjoying the posts in this place. Nice discussions.

But probably we are forgetting one basic point.

What are the basic qualifications of a real Vaishnab ?

Does Gita approve that we individual can do anything on our own?

The whole creation is Maya created by Lord Krishna - and Krishna is the Supreme authority - playing His games to show us the Rays of Wisdom to enable us to join Him in the Game of Love for us - His creations. - It is all Maya - Mayavab of the creator.

Does those qualifications support our way of looking at the Universe?

Hope the Respected Sadhakas will enlighten us on the Basic Qualification of a Vaishnab.

With regards.

jyotishguru
Guest guest
Dearest Guruji!
Accept my pranams. By asking this question, you are indeed worthy of respect and praise!!

There are many descriptions of the qualities of a Vaishnav devotee in various scriptures. First and foremost is that fact ,"One whose very sight brings the name of Krsna to your lips should be recognized as the best of all vaishnavas." Into this person have all the demigods come to invest with their qualities.

They are peaceful, have taken complete shelter of Krsna and are uninfluenced by lust. They are harmless, steady and have overcome the six cardinal sins - lust, anger, greed, envy, illusion, and jealousy. They eat only as much as required and are sober. They are respectful, without false prestige, grave compassionate, friendly, poetic, expert, and silent.

They are tolerant, merciful, and friends to all living creatures. They are humble, respectful to everyone, devoid of false prestige and do not demand respect for themselves. They offer their obeisances to all creatures because they see the Lord within the hearts of each. They make no enemies. Material miseries do not affect them as they are filled with the pastimes and activities of the Lord.

They spread Krsna katha and listen to katha with rapt attention. They are desireless and treat everyone equally. They always have the holy name of Krsna in their mind, heart, throat and soul.

To the vaishnav, dharma, (duty) artha, (wealth) kama,(sensual rewards) and moksha, (liberation) known as the four goals of life, are abandoned for Prem (love)and considers the others as insignificant.

The Vaishnav presents Lord Krsna in such a way that the audience is enthusiastic for more. A wonderful example of this is in Lord Caitanya. In Varanasi Lord Caitanya smiled at the mayavadis and taught them Vedanta by saying " My dear sirs, if you dont mind, i can say something to you regarding vedanta philosophy." By His actions and humility, the Mayavadis were convinced of His personality and wished to hear from Him. There was no trace of arrogance in His demeanor before others.

These friends are just a drop of the basic qualifications of vaishnavas that i am aware of through the mercy of my gurudev. There are, of course, many many more, but perhaps others can add to this glorious list?

Om tat sat

>:*)
