Guest guest
We try to complicate our lives soooo much. This is funny when the nature of nature is to do the least amount of work!!! Think about it, lightening strikes the path of LEAST RESISTANCE and always succeeds. Water falling in a vacuum is perfectly round, spreading itself out as little as possible. When falling through atmosphere forms a teardrop that is perfectly aerodynamic. Rivers flow between banks because it expends less energy than to overflowing, but when heavy rain comes, the easiest way is to overflow.

This gives us a hint of our creator doesnt it? An effortly formless being that spontaneously expresses itself as any given form. It does but does not work, the doing that never loses the unruffledness of Being.

"O master, how long will it take for me to attain enlightenment?"
"You?Thirty years."
"And how long if i give up everything and through myself into endless meditation?"
"Hrmmmm, thirty thousand years"

We should relax. "What - Me Worry?" - Alfred E. Newman

If we would just relax, we open ourselves and that Intellect reveals itself. Each moments experience is already as it is, continuing to be what we have always been; perfect within which thoughts and sensations frictionlessly come and go. Just be alert!!!

It is so hard to empty that chattering mind of ours long enough to listen to that Great Intellect. Dont focus, dont concentrate, dont manipulate, dont try to figure out anything. Simply rest, let go, allow and BE.

om tat sat

>:*)
Guest guest
Dear peggy,
Your post regarding path of least resistance strikes a very deep chord in one, a flash of revelation occurs, thank you for that !
Here is an attempt to put in words whatever insight one gained at THAT moment from your posts.
To any goal, name it god, brahma, or whatever, there can be two approaches from one point of view. They are, using disbelief as the modus operandi in which even the smallest tenet has to be proved first before our assimilating it, this is a very arduous path and unfortunately(fortunately for some) this is inculcated by modern 'scientific' approach in ALL of us irespective of our tendencies. This path may be sefer but is looooong.
The other alternative is the path of trust and belief, in this the tenet is first believed absolutely by the sadhak and his approach is greatly speeded up by this since established ideas by people who have 'walked the talk'(copyright uma :-)) and been making due corrections etc.
But this path of belief is fraught with obvious dangers of kaliyuga in which falsehood so abounds that a path initially appealing to one's intellect may towards the end be a cause for total confusion, indeed this may be risky.
So what is one to do ?
Is there a middle path ?
There is another fact for all those of us so much affected by modern day scientific approach, viz. in the latest research fields the approach is heavily dependent on "Hypothesis", ie first a vague idea occurs to somebody and then a huge excercise(sometimes expensive) begins to establish the trueness of that hypothesis assuming it to be absolutely true; there is a everpresent danger of the theory falling on its face but still our 'believing' scientists go on.
One knows that revolutionary discoveries like 'atomic power' etc were the result of this kind of approach only.
Does this not show the validity of the approach of the attitude of believing first and then continuing further ? In short the importance of FAITH ?
Although many risks are there, but I'm game for it when on the other side I see a path that is going to ultimately defeat itself(logic vs logic = zero) to reach somewhere ?

Again, what is one to do ?
You mention "THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE"
But this path of least resistance is not as easy at it seems, it needs extreme sensitivity to detect that direction offering least resistance without colouring our search by prejudice or negative conditioning of any sort.

So this was just an overview of all the argument that seems to be going on.
Faith and belief are BLIND emotions but are very powerful tools to crossover to that state of full understanding.
still more...
