Guest guest
Dear Peggyhand,

you wrote:

<< hrmmmmm. "Believing is not enough. You need to know."
i agree 100% that this is of course the best way. But again, to know would mean to return to this mortal coil after death "to do the math." >>

I don't think, that you are right with that. What is Jnana? Isn't it knowing? Doesn't GOD know? If you don't now that you are then you are not and there is nothing that can NOT be. Believe me, you will KNOW. There is no state in the evolution of the soul in that is not-knowing present. You will always be conscious of yourSELF.

<< i spent many many years living among the Germans and i found them to be exacting and methodical. My son was taught religion in the Grundschule, something that does not happen here in the US. Crosses of Lord Jesus abound everywhere to include the highest peaks.(Sounds like an anthropologist describing a third world country, sorry.) >>

So what?
You do not really want to judge my words according to that, want you?

Sorry, for being German. Don't believe us. We are all the same. *lol*

<< My point is, most of us are raised INTO a religion or faith. Yes, there may come a time when we abandon that faith for another or stop believing altogether, but when troubles are severe enough, it tends to 'pop back up' again >>

Sorry, I have never been a Christ and am not baptized at all so this can't apply to me.
I am an Universalist and that's all. I have made some Advaita experiences and so I know but have no access anymore to that state because those experiences were spontaneous.

<< You can not fault the people who flock to holy dhams to die for hopes of moksha. >>

Why not? "Holy" dhams? I would call them superstitious dhams.
If everybody believes that Kali is the highest Goddess and do human sacrifices for her, they would certainly tell you that they do only follow their holy dham. Don't you think that if you fault them then that you are right?
This is only a general comparison. I have no respect for so-called "holy" dhams when they are untrue. Even if they are practised for thousands of years.
If nobody would ever have tried to eliminate the untruth and always would have flocked to the "holy dhams" could you imagine where we then would be now? Think about that.

<< Because from time to time we are reminded that we must die one day and that day is always unexpected. It is a scary thought in of itself, but if we also were taught of an afterlife or the results of our karmic activities, well, brrrrrrrr >>

Hmmmm, I can only conclude from that that you are afraid to die. But why? Because there are some people who told you that there are 33 over- and under realms? And that you are judged when you die? And perhaps do come in the 33rd under realm or such nonsense (sorry, blueraybird, BTW, the other things that you stated about extraphysical learning, etc. are true, indeed)?
Aren't you spiritual? If you haven't overcome the fear of death then what have you done in your spiritual development? Perhaps too long flocked to "holy dhams" ;-)?

<< I read that book you recommended. >>

You don't want to tell me that you have read it? In few hours? How many pages have you read? In my opinion you have barely skimmed it, haven't you? But I'm afraid that this strategy in order to understand it, as I previously have already stated, NOT appropriate. It is not possible. Don't do yourself a disservice. Read it from start to end before forming any judgment.
You think, you don't need it?
I highly doubt that. It gives answers to all your questions. Be it spiritually or worldly. But you have to read it and not just "read" it :-)

- end of part 1 -
