Shiva-Sanhita, the ancient scripture on Yoga was

the basis of Gherand Samhita and Patanjali Yoga

Sutra. It is said that Lord Shiva revealed the path to

liberation to Mother Parvati and thus was born

Shiva_Samhita. Few shlokas are presented.

(1/6) --Some

wise persons praise the deeds of family life while

others consider fire-offerings (Yajna) to be the

best

(1/7)--Similarly the yoga of mantras is praised by some and some

say the path of pilgrimage as best. In this manner

numerous are the ways that have been spoken of for

attaining Moksha.

(1/9)--Those who hold such views,

gather the fruits of good and bad deeds, and due to that

wander aimlessly in a cycle births and

deaths.

(1/10)---Others who are wise, perfect, deep in thinking and

alert, described the Soul as boundless, eternal and

all-prevading.

(1/11)--- Whatever things are apparent, exist; those not

apparent, do not exist. Where are the heavens etc. - such

are the confident views of some

(1/12)--- Yet

others know it to be radiant knowledge or as void, still

others regard it as a dual entity (quintessence) of

Prakriti and Purusha.

(1/13)-- Entirely different

are the views of those who are apathetic to the

reality; also of those who have merely collected whatever

was heard or thought of. These say, there is no God.

Yet others - eager to know the correct

position-dissolve all contradictions by sound logic and declare;

There is God.

(1/14) These latter sages confirm

that the cause of man's delusion is fragmentations and

disputations in the mind.

(1/16)---The various views of

all disputing persons I am unable to relate. All such

people wander aimlessly, driven away from the Path of

Salvation (Moksha)

(1/17) - The Path of yoga, is as

per sastras the only way to attain, Moksha. No

discussion can lead to MoKsha. The mind deludes and Yoga

clears the mind of misconceptions.

Om Namah
