For 60 thousand years, Ratnakar kept reciting the

name of the lord - RAMA. So engrossed was he, he never

realised that termites (Valmik) attacked him and sucked

off all flesh and bllod from him. They built a nest

over him. Ratnakar did not die - he kept reciting RAMA

RAMA. <br>When Brahma came down to earth, he was

surprised to see a termite hill from which RAMA RAMA was

coming out. He asked Indra to<br>rain for seven days

over the termite hill. For seven days and seven

nights, it rained over the termite hill and it was

dissolved. Out came a skeleton, still reciting RAMA

RAMA.Brahma revived him. Seeing Brahma, Ratnakar prostrated

before him and said - u have relieved me.<br>Brahma

said, Valmik ate u up, from this day onwards u will be

know as Valmiki. Now I have some work for u. Go write

the 'Purana' of Rama, in seven parts. <br>I do not

know how to write poetry, I do not know ho wto rhyme

words, how I manage. "Don't worry", Brahma said,

"Saraswati will sit on your tounge when u write.What ever u

write, Rama will do just that." <br>Speaking thus,

Brahma returned to his abode. One day when Valmiki was

sitting below a tree, he saw two white birds playing

around. Suddenly, one of the birds was struck down by an

arrow of an archer. The bird fell on Valmiki's lap.

Suddenly staring with "Ma Nishada", Valmiki, uttered a

sholka. He himself was surprised,what was this. He

searched out the great sage Bharadwaj. Narada was there in

Bharadwaj's ashrama. Narada told the sage - "This will be

your staring. This is how Ramayana will start. <br>In

the solar dynasty there will be a king Dasharatha.

Vishu will be born in his house as Rama,Bharata,

Lakshmana and Shatrughana. They will be born to 3 queens.

In Janaka's house, Sita will be born. Breaking a

bow, Rama will win Sita. Obeying his father's wishes,

Rama will travel to the forest along with his brother,

Lakshmana. There, Ravana,king of Lanka will kidnap Sita.

Rama will befriend Sugriva after killing Vali. With

Sugriva's help, Rama will kill Ravana and rescue Sita.

After a few years, Rama will banish a pregnant Sita.

Lakshamana will keep her in your ashrama, Valmiki. There

Sita will give birth to Luv and Kusha. You will teach

the boys Ramayana. Rama will take his sons home. He

wil crown them king and then leave the earth for his

heavenly abode. This is the story in short. Now write".

<br>After churning the ocean, Chandra (the moon) was

obtained. His son was Budh. Budh's son was Pururava.

Pururava's son was Shatavarta. Shatavarta's son was Swarga,

and Swarga's son Shwetnamayut. Shwetnamayut's son was

Nimi. Nimi's son Mithi, founded the city of Mithila.

Veerdhwaja and Kushadhawaja were Mithi's sons. In this city

of Mithila was born Lakhshmi.<br>The founder of the

Solar Dynasty was Niranjan. His sons were Brahma,

Vishnu and Maheshwar. He also had a daughter, Kandini.

Shiva brought over Narada and got him married off to

his sister. From Narada's Veena was born a daughter,

Bhanu. Bhanu married Jamdagni.Vishnu was born in

Jamdagni's house as Parashurama. Jamdagni prayed to Brahma

and was blessed with a son, Marich. Marich's son was

Kashyap and Kashyap's son was Surya, teh son God. Surya's

son was Manu and Manu's son was Sushena. Sushena's

son was Prasanna, and Prasanna's son was Yuvanashva.

Yuvanashva became the king of Ayodhya. He married Kalnimi,

teh daughter of King Kandaka. <br>The couple was not

blessed with any children. Kalnimi started praying and

asking the Gods fr children. <br>The king was told to

perform a Yagna and was told to give the queen, the holy

water to drink after the Yagna.
