Along with the two princes, Vishwamitra

approached the forest where Taraka was staying. She would

kill and eat up everyone who passed through the

forest. All were afraid of her. Vishwamitra showed Rama

where Taraka stayed. Rama tightened the string of his

bow and plucked it. It made a massive sound. Wanting

to see what was happening, Taraka came out. Seeing

Rama, she said she would kill then and there. She was

clad in the skin of a Brahman. Skulls were her

earrings. Rama teased her saying "Oh Copper skinned woman,

you have hair all over your body and your teeth

resemble iron chains". Angered, Taraka pulled a Sal tree

from the ground and hurled it at Rama. Rama smashed

the tree with an arrow. Seeing that tree go down, she

pulled out another tree and hurled it. Rama's arrow cut

off that tree too. Rama started shooting arrows at

her, but she would not stop. Then the gods told Rama

to use the thunder weapon, Braja. Rama shot that at

Taraka. Taraka, hurled by the force of the arrow fell

quite a distance away and died.
