Vashishta then approached Dasharatha asked him to

listen to Vishwamitra. Vishwamitra said ‘I have not

uttered a word and you have started crying. Rama slew

Taraka and lifted the curse off Ahalya. He killed many

Rakshasas and made it possible for me to complete my Yagna.

In Mithila Rama broke the bow of Shiva and is now

all set to marry Sita. I have come to fetch you, your

two sons so that you can bless your sons and

daughters-in-law.’ Bursting with joy, Dasharatha then ordered the

people to start the festivities. Elephants, horses and

chariots were made ready. Kaushalya wanted to anoint Rama

with Turmeric paste and was sad.
In Mithila the

preparations began too. Jars full of milk and ghee were taken

out. Janaka went out with his wife to greet the people

of Ayodhya.
On the way to Mithila, Dasharatha

was curious to see where Rama had slain Taraka. Then

he wanted to see Ahalya’s ashrama. After that the

king approached the banks of the River Ganga. The

boatman, who had helped Rama crossed across the river,

helped the king cross too.
Janaka then approached

Dasharatha and said - If you allow me, I would like to wed

four of my daughters with four of your sons.

Dasharatha said – We are relatives from today.
On

hearing that Dasharatha was there, Rama and Lakshmana

came out and greeted their father. The four brothers

then greeted each other.
