Guest guest
Dear Venkat you hv written <<Maya is as much a part of Brahman as smoke is a part of the burning fire>> this is a very wise explanation.

Surprisingly, the root of Hindu philosophy the Sankhya and Vedanta...took Maya (Prakrity/Nature) as Jada (non-conscious). vedanti do not normally accept Maya as Bramha and treat it as fake and illusion.

Bhaktas also take Maya or Prakriti as an obstacle which keeps them away from GOD. Kabir said ," Maya Mahaa Thhagini hum jaani - Maya is the biggest cheater i came to know".

Hence most of the Hindu thoughts were to ignore Maya by chanting Neti Neti (not this...not this) and reach the ultimate truth. And it has been proved right by many saints.

But I sometimes wondered as to how Untruth (maya) can veil the Truth (GOD) ? how truth can give birth to untruth?

The answer I found in Tantraa (Shiva and Shakti). Tantraa is perhaps the only branch of Hinduism, which does not reject Maya as fake and illusion, but it treats Maya as manifestation of Shakti (the eternal energy), and uses its complex system (called tantra in sanskrit/hindi) to get out of it.

Dduttaroy once wrote about using an integrated form of different path.

The Universe has been manifested with a purpose. God is not a cruel king or a Magician who wished to keep us ignorant or befooled, or veiled. what is the purpose behind this ?.

We have three paths (none of them untruth though):-

1- treat the Universe as fake...and use the neti neti to reach the truth through Gyana yoga.

2- treat the universe as real..and fight our way out of it with Bhakti, Raj or Hathha yoga

3- treat the universe as manifestation of the supreme consciousness and understand its workings and be free while in the universe using it... not becoming slave of it....taking help from Karma yoga or Tantraa.

though all the three paths are part of truth and millions have since attained Moksha by using one of these paths...yet each one has its limitations and shortcomings....perhaps those can be discussed separately.

which one is more relevant in this modern world ???

Hari Aum
