Guest guest
Thank you for the invite.
Your invite and my visitor came about the same time so maybe there is a connection. I always like to find spiritual solutions to practical problems. My visitor is no longer with me, as he was caught with the metal slammer, but I remain very unsure if my solution to the situation was at all satisfactory in light of even the few alternatives I was contemplating. Perhaps some of you have had the same situation and have solved it in a more enlightened way. It is very possible that this situation will reoccur/is occurring many times, with the roles reversed at times so it would be nice to know what the mouse should do also.

With love
bookherder
Guest guest
What a coincidence! Last week I too had a rodential visitor in my apartment. I was wondering whether there is any non-violent 'spiritual' solution to this problem, and whether I should post this question on saadhanaa club.

I fed poison cakes to the mouse which solved the problem. But this might not be the correct action. Or was it?

I'm not being frivolous.

Hare krishna.
Rajeev
Guest guest
Yes, there is a method. In North India, in Delhi especially I have seen people do this. There killing a mouse means killing Ganesha's vehicle.
Get a mouse trap and put a piece of dry bread in it which is not poisoned. When the mouse is trapped, take the trap outside and go far away from your house where there is wilderness and release the mouse.
Guest guest
Hi Rajeev

Your question actually has some serious implications for sadhana and different sadhaks would probably solve it in a different way.

Perhaps if it is possible the trap method suggested is more humane, perhaps what you have done is the only way available. The intention and state of mind may determine how spiritual the act is.

It's effectiveness in removing the pest will however depend on whether the rats have a home with babies or a pathway into your home, constantly keeping your supply of rodents refreshed. In that case you will have to get to the root of the problem, to look at what is generating its recurring presence.

Spiritually too, if we transfer this understanding to our own lives, we can remove surface behavior, speak beautiful words, take actions to remove ills, like doing puja (prayerful rituals) or perform holy acts of service, but as long as the root of the problem within ourselves is not removed, negativity will always find a way to manifest. Like band aid, it will only take care of the symptom, not the cause.

Not a frivolous issue at all.

Some thoughts to ponder ..

Tat twam asi
UMA
