Guest guest
ok I will be frank. As much as I enjoy this club, I do not understand many of the Sandskrip or Indian words that are used. Hence, I get less out of the club than I otherwise would. Is there a kind soul out there who would post a list of Yoga/ Hindu/ Buddhist terms and definitions that are often used here and in other forums like this? I could print it out and learn them on my own time or just keep it next to my computer. I know the quick cut and dry definitions do not do the concepts justice, and people have many differant veiws as to what exactly certain words mean, but there must be general definitions. It would be most apreciated. Thank you.

Ever seeking,
Audra

Guest guest
I have a few bookmarked since I don't know a lot of the terms either. Here's the one I use most often: http://hinduism.about.com/library/weekly/extra/bl-glossary-index.htm<\ /a>

Hope that helps!

Erica
Guest guest
Dear maddolphinpoet

We have included the following link for a sanskrit glossary in our links section. It belongs to one of our members baba108. Forgive me for not doing a better job at ensuring the members become aware of it. I have certainly been making an attempt to give the english translations and will certainly atttempt to do better.

I request members that we perhaps give a footnote with the sanskrit/hindi words used in our posts and their meanings. The links provided may or may not have all the words used. We could compile our own glossary soon.

http://communities.msn.com/JKalianandaswami&naventryid=135

Thank you for being patient with us

Tat twam asi ( That Thou Art)

UMA

Guest guest
You're welcome Audra! Actually, I've found the majority of that site (http://hinduism.about.com/) to be very helpful in my learning.

Here are some other glossaries I have bookmarked (since no dictionay contains every term):
http://www.digiserve.com/mystic/Hindu/glossary.html

http://www.hindunet.org/glossary/
(hindunet.org has also proven very informational)

http://www.himalayanacademy.com/books/dws/DWSLexicon.html

\ Erica
