Guest guest
Blessed Self, members

Frequently I come in contact with people who are distressed or uneasy about the effects of spiritual unfolding, about kundalini rising.

These people are online, in my classes and among my acquaintances. Some are strangers because, in Ottawa, I'm part of a small group that counsels people who are having difficulty adjusting to the effects of spiritual unfolding encountered during their sadhana, especially those effects related to kundalini rising. This problem is growing as more and more people take up various spiritual practices without being warned of the possible effects and without a guru to guide them. Even the psychiatric profession has recognized this problem and called it 'spiritual emergence syndrome'

Not all effects are serious enough to be considered psychiatric problems. Usually, the distress is simple a matter of not knowing that spiritual practices entail a restructing of the consciousness, the physical body, the astral body, the mind and the intellect. Once that it known, the person can be content to let the restructuring proceed without resistance and without expectation.

Often, the uneasiness is due to (1) entering an unknown without any assurance that one will be safe and able to operate within the new conceptual framework and (2) leaving behind the familiar which, while not satisfying spiritually, at least has the plus of being a milieu within whichone can more or less cope.

In case any of you are encountering some puzzling or disturbing effects of your sadhana, I have posted a couple of links that you may find useful.

And please everyone, if you do not have a guru, try to find spiritually-knowledgeable person where you live who has had direct experience with kundalini and the transformative aspects of sadhana so that they can give you the benefit of their experience in this area.

Hari Om Tat Sat

Omprem
Guest guest
Do you know my friend Jyoti? She was a founder of the Spiritual Emergence Network. Her book, "An Angel Called My Name" tells of her own experience with Ma Kundalini Shakti and also speaks of Shri Dhyanyogi and Shri Anandi Ma (www.dyc.org)
