Guest guest
Silentsoul:

Thank you for your post. I must say, though, that not all people that experience spontaneous Kundalini release have bad things happen to them forever. This happened to me (I was not meditating or trying for it at all...in fact, quite the opposite...but it was released) and at the time I felt like I was going crazy. My skin was constantly tingling. The best way I could describe it was that I felt like someone plugged me into a socket. I was having vivid dreams and nightmares, as well as unexplained twitching in my body, bursts of tears, constant fatigue, etc.

Now that I know what it was, though, and I have started regular yoga and meditation exercises, my symptoms have decreased and become managable. The most important thing, in my opinion, is to understand what's happening and know you're not alone when you go through this. I felt extremely alone and like I was going crazy until I found out what was happening and read the accounts of others.

I am happy now and feel more comfortable than ever with myself in this life. It's going to be a life-long journey, but one I am ready for.

Om Shanti,
Erica

Knowing that the symptoms experienced are normal to spiritual unfolding and have been experienced by hundreds of thousands of people, immeditately starts to decrease the fear and increase the acceptance of the process.

Without them, mental and physical deterioration can continue, doctors will suggest prescription drug therapy and other harmful therapies. Spiritual emergence syndrome is often misdiagnosed as bipolarism, schizophrenia, psychosis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, ADD.
Seek the advice of a qualified, I repeat, qualified, spiritual guide if you encounter unusual mental and physical phenomena.

And, you are right that not all people experience negative symptoms during the process of spiritual awakening. But these people are the ones who taken the time to purity their minds, intellect, physical body, astral body and the connections between them.

Patanjali tells us that when one has a focused mind and is desireless, one becomes of their true spiritual nature. But kundalini can also arise outside of spiritual practices, if one is very intent on something and if the desires are at a minimum and related to whatever is being focused on, especially if that person has a desire for truth lying in the background. In these circumstances, the experiences of spiritual emergence may not be so pleasant.

Om and prem
Guest guest
I agree and thank you.

By my post, I meant that even if you do experience "negative" symptoms at first, they can subside. I guess I just wanted to say...it doesn't go on forever!

Om Shanti,
Erica
