Saranagati succeds humility...<br><br>Devi asking

Swamiji "Do I protect you or you protect me ?" makes

things clear to all sadhaks.<br><br>At times,I wonder

how Devine Will menifests it self in our day-to-day

life in this material world. From various examples

/observations around,<br>I could learn that one of the

following happens:<br><br>1)HE inspires / enlightens the

Sadhak regarding the course of action, from the front

line.<br><br>2)Sadhak is prompted to learn from the examples from the

similar( past) situations and emulate. <br><br>3)Sadhak is

prompted to approach the learned/wise seniors and seek

guidence on the course of action.<br><br>4)Sadhak would be

blessed (without explicitly seeking it ) to receive

advice/ blessings / guidence from the experienced seniors

which will lead /prompt him(sub-conscious)regarding the

course of action<br><br>5)The Sadhak submits himself at

the mercy of the Almighty and indulges in action

delinking himself / without attaching himself to its

consequences. <br><br>(Karmanyevadhikaraste Maphaleshu

kadachana..)<br><br>In all abive cases Humility (in practice,)

facilitates a sadhak to receive the devine grace. <br><br>The

default setting(in the absence of humility) in our life

may land us in the process of 'reinventing the

wheel'wasting our life,or<br>getting entangled with the

action/cause-effect cycle. <br><br>Prayers on the otherhand,may help

our faculties(Conscience,Subconscious mind,Intellect

) to be sharply focussed on the desired results,

prompting our Thoughts,Expressions,Attitudes,& Conduct so

as to enable us deserve the devine grace

When we speak of humility and its role in sadhna,

I am reminded of the story of a zen monk.<br><br>A

student approached his guru to ask for enlightenment. His

Guru said he will, but first he must bring a pot of

tea and an empty cup. When the student returned, he

was asked to pour the tea into his cup. As the cup

filled up, the Guru told him to pour more. Even when the

tea began to spill, the guru asked him to keep on

pouring. <br><br>Puzzled, the student asks the Guru why he

is asking him to pour into the cup, it is already

full and it can't hold any more.<br><br>The Guru then

told the student "When the cup is full, it is not

possible to pour any more into it. Similarly, you have

come to me with your mind full of what you already

know. When you can empty yourself completely; when your

cup is totally empty, I will be able to give you

enlightenment!"<br><br>Humility helps empty our "cups". ONLY when our cups of

what we think we know can be emptied, can we get

"saranagati" (place) at the Mother's feet ie. the experience

of self realization. <br><br>We spend lifetimes,

learning how to empty all we learn. Only then can we get

our release. <br><br>_/\_<br><br>UMA
