Blessed Self, members

As has been said,

every crisis can bring out the best or worst in

people.

Shortly the attacks on the WTC and DC, a Hindu temple in

Hamilton, Ontario, Canada was completely burned to the

ground in an apparent case of revenge and mistaken

identity re the attacks.

Some suspects are in jail.

But the real story came today. The members of 16

building trade unions in the Hamilton area said today that

they would volunter their time to reconstruct the

temple.

The temple was apparently underinsured,

so in addition, these construction workers committed

themselves to meeting any shortfall between the insurance

proceeds and the replacement cost.

An excellent

example of selfless service and true

sadhana.

omprem

Thank you for the posting this Omprem!

I

have been flooded with stories, both of the hatred and

of the angels that live among us. I am choosing to

be aware of the negative, but keep my eyes firmly

focused only on the presence of the angels of the kinds

you mentioned.

And there are plenty. The man

who went down with his paraplegic friend who wasn't

going to be able to escape, the man who asked to say

the Lord's Prayer emphasing "Forgive us our

trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us", the

angels in firefighters uniform who knew that they would

have little chances of escaping when they refused help

from those who were escaping, the neighbors who stood

at the mosque on sunday morning with flowers and

candles for the members to offer them love and support,

the friends who have called to surround my family and

I with the golden light of protection and to those

who went down in the burning towers and the planes.

Perhaps this unbelievable horrific experience that has

changed our psyches for ever will not be in vain. Perhaps

they gave their lives so that we can rediscover the

true values of life - Love, kindness, compassion,

humility, faith, honoring each other, realizing that we are

only "spirits having a earth plane experience", values

that seem to get lost in the rat-race of the

competitive world. Out of the ashes let there be a new cry

for unity - One people under "God".

Powerful

sadhna indeed!

Uma
