Guest guest
Benefits of Chanting

According to Psychology

1. While chanting is going on, no new impressions are created in the subconscious mind. Thus, chanting the Lord’s Name, is the best method in the waking state to prevent the development of new impressions.
2. While chanting is going on, the conscious mind does not accept impulses from the centers (there are various centers in the sub-conscious mind such as desire and instincts, likes and dislikes, temperamental characteristics etc. These centers decide man’s nature and he react as per the impulse received from them.) of the subconscious mind. If chanting continues for a considerable period, impressions in these centers start reducing.
3. Power of concentration increases.

According to Spirituality

1. One is able to please the deity by chanting its name.
2. By chanting some bijakshar (a letter, a group of letters or ords with generate spiritual energy), one can achieve control over a particular element. For instance the tejtattva (fire element) and can acquire a corresponding supernatural power (siddhi).
3. A non-action (akarma karma): Chanting the Lord’s Name while performing an action transforms that action into akarma karma , that is, action which does not add to the Sanchit (accumulated account) Thus, if no new accounts are generated, one can get quickly liberated from the cycles of birth and deaths, after having undergone one’s destiny. If one considers that accumulated account of an individual to be 100 units at the time of birth, then in one birth (on an average) 6 units get depleted by undergoing destiny. Which would mean that man should be able to attain Liberation within 16 to 17 births. But this does not happen because, whilst one is undergoing 6 units of destiny, new accounts are simultaneously being created by one’s Kriyman karama (wilful actions) and the account rises by 10 units. Hence, at the time of death, the accumulated account has 104 units instead of 96. Consequently, an individual gets more and more entrapped in the cycle of births and deaths. To prevent this, our actions have to become akarma karma and chanting the Lord’s Name is the only means.

With love,
Sanatan
Glenn-Sampada
Guest guest
Blessed Self, g1nsamp67

The cause of the benefits of chanting is that each syllable in a sancrit chant is keyed to one of the 7 chakras. Chanting is similar to playing a xzylophone. Just as the hammer strikes one of the bars of the xylophone to create a sound, so too each syllable of the sancrit chant activates a chakra to produce a change in consciousness.

When you chant, those sanscrit syllables are awakening the chakras and tuning your consciousness to them.

With some experience in chanting, you can even feel the chakras responding to each syllable of the chant.

Om namah Sivaya

Omprem
