Guest guest
Which Name should one chant if the Guru hasn't given a Name?

In this case one should chant the Name of the family deity (Kuldevta). Family Deity refers to either the male family deity or the female family deity.

1. A family is comprised of people who are closely associated with each other. Depending upon which family deity’s worship is necessary for him, the individual is born in a particular family.
2. Kul also means energy, Kundalini or Muladhar chakra. Kuldevta refers to that deity whose worship activates the Kundalini (spiritual energy) in Muladhar Chakra, i.e. initiates spiritual progress. If one has both, a male and a female family deity, one should chant the name of the female family deity. She is more easily pleased due to Her being close to the earth element.
3. If one is not aware of the name of the family deity one should chant the name of one’s favorite deity or chant ‘Shri Kuldevtayai Namaha’. Once this chanting reaches a certain level, the seeker meets someone who guides him to the family deity. Once the chanting of the family deity reaches a certain level, the Guru Himself comes into the seeker’s life and blesses him with Gurumantra.
4. When the subtle body has imbibed all the principals in the Universe, spiritual practice is said to be complete. Cow is the only animal, which can attract the frequencies of all the deities in the Universe. For the same reason Cow is worshipped in India. Similarly, chanting of the family deity’s name helps in imbibing all the principles in the Universe and increasing them by 30%. As against this, chanting the names of deities like Vishnu, Shiva, Ganapati, Lakshmi etc. only helps in increasing the principle in which one is deficient. This is akin taking vitamin A, B, etc. as a supplement to reduce the deficiency of that vitamin in the body.
5. The seeker is asked to chant the Name corresponding to the number obtained in Meditation.

(Excerpts from Volume 21 – “Introduction to the Science of Spirituality and Individual Spiritual Practice” published by Sanatan Society for Scientific Spirituality – Complied by H.H.
