Blessed Self, silentopposition

4. Your

theory

Your real objective is to promulgate a theory of

oppression of the masses, the downtrodden classes by the

rich, the powerful, the upper classes, and the leaders

of religions.

But the only thing that can

oppress one is oneself. As Swami Sivananda has said,

"Reform yourself and let the rest of the world reform

itself." Far from enslaving you, religions want you to be

free -- free of self-delusion brought on by

conditioning, by the senses, by the ego and by a narrowing of

the mind through a reliance on a false reason that

ignores intuitive faculties.

Think of how flawed

the senses are. Can you hear a dog whistle? Do you

hear the radio and TV signals moving around and

through you without having an appliance to do so? Do you

wear eyeglasses.? Or a hearing aid? How about colour

blindness? The senses have very narrow thresholds and are

not capable of delivering to your consciousness that

vast universe outside of their scope. Never mind that

the information that they do deliver may be false. It

is the intuitive faculties that provide the

information that the senses cannot. Religious practices are

one way to active and develop these intuitive

faculties.

It is your self-conditioning that has given you a

feeling of being trapped. You have merely transferred the

source of that feeling from yourself to groups outside

of yourself. This is a very common

mistake.

5. Redemption

But I notice that your last

paragraph is very conciliatory, perhaps signalling a desire

to communicate rather than continue an agenda of

polemics. You claim that you are, “simply saying that the

truth might lie *away* from the dogma of the religious

texts.” This is a welcome change from your own dogmatic

tone in your previous messages.

I agree that

one has to get beyond lip service to the tenets of

religion and use the religious practices to arrive at a

direct, unequivocal knowledge of the truth of those

tenets. That is what the religious leaders also

want.

Use the reason and personal freedom that you

value so highly along with meditation (or

contemplation, if you prefer) to explore in objective, unbiased

way what lies in the Vedas. See the accord between

what the Vedas say and what science, especially

physics, has to say. The Truth will set you

free.

Om namah Sivaya

omprem
