Guest guest
contd.
One fully respects your feeling that "it is important to change from 'self-awareness' to social awareness."
and as you also said
""I am here to find whether spiritualism has that answer or not.""
Uma and SilentSoul and maybe others before mentioned your approach being very akin to "Karma-Yoga" taught by Krishna in the Gita, which is nothing but pure state of selflessness as a body, instead one's awareness expanded into the matrix of society. All actions originating from this type of decentralised consciousness which is very much possible before you dismiss this as abstract.
As you are averse to any sort of abstract discussion and open to down to earth activity in tha social field, which may be quite a 'cultural shock' to many of us here. Most of us are on the path quite different in which realising the fallacies and hypocrisy of society also reflected in self, one begins to systematically overcome these illusory ideas in self; well let that be out of discussion for the moment.
May be the idea of Karma-Yoga (karma here as activity) sounds distant but it would be good if you looked up the Bhagavat Gita in this regard.
Further into spirituality, you must have heard of the word 'empathy'? This as you will agree is a vital ingredient of a better society. To quote just one example, during advanced stages of (development of personal awareness in your terms:) a high level of sensitivity is developed towards the surrounding environment. One has seen personally a person developing a choking sensation during meditation just because a lizard happened to have fallen in a bucket full of water and struggling to breath, the effect gone as soon as the cause removed. This was just a chance happening and not any 'demonstration'. Similarly, sensitivity to other people's moods and thoughts is also developed and one is able to be naturally happy only when all in the surroundings are happy too.
>The purpose of all the above explanation was to stress the actual feeling of empathy over just an intellectual understanding and hence 'copying' of it as in good manners etc.<
Too much of intellectual "personal awareness" in true spiritual terms is not awareness at all !
Karma-yoga tells us to begin with this very same abstract idea of total selflessness but constant application to actualise this intellectual practice is very strongly stressed. Ultimately arriving at that perfect empathy !
So the paths may vary, one in to out, other out to in, the end has to be betterment of humanity as a whole. This result , you have already arrived at after much intellectual excercise, showing the very logical direction of your intellectual approach.
But now is the question of putting in practise the so many words passed around. Any suggestions??
regards really
