places of power

Blessed Self, silentsoul<br><br>The question of

whether places of power are intrinsically powerful or

whether they become so due to the people who choose to

live there does not have a simple answer other than

sometimes the former, sometimes the latter, and sometimes

both.<br><br>There are a number of places in North America that are

considered by aboriginal tribes to be intrinsically

powerful. People are drawn to these places even now in

order to partake of the uplifting vibrations and

clarify one's personal vision.<br><br>On the other hand,

one of my teachers told me many years of ago of her

visit to Sri Lanka (then Ceylon). She was at a beach

and was overcome with the spirits of people slain in

battles over the centuries. To her, Sri Lanka has a

negative energy and is haunted by spirits who are bound to

the earth because of their sudden and untimely death.

Who is to say whether that negative energy of Sri

Lanka is due to the uneasy spirits that reside there or

whether the fighting and dying that produced the spirits

was influenced by intrinsically negative energies of

the place so that those two negative energies are now

augmenting each other. (Please, do not send a me lot of

negative e-mail if any of you happpen to live in or be

from Sri Lanka).<br><br>In the case of Barrie,

Ontario, I could feel the negativity of the place before I

even saw a person. The people of Barrie look tense and

have a cloud about them. I could not get out of that

town fast enough and would not ever go back if I could

help it. <br><br>Karma could arrange for people of a

certain temperment to be born in or arrive at a place of

a particular vibration. Some will be drawn to the

vibration of the place on their own. Negative people may

feel at home in a negative environment. Postive people

will feel at home in a positive environment. People

may not be able to articulate this, but they will

respond to it and conduct their lives

accordingly.<br><br>Groups of negative people could take a neutral place and

saturate it their negative energies. From the point of

view of positive energies, all one has to do is to go

into any European cathedral and the tangible

atmosphere of the cathedral will be apparent. People have

been go to those cathedrals for hundreds of years,

admittedly not always with the best of motives, but mostly

to turn their minds and hearts to God. Those sattvic

energies have permeated the stone foundations of those

cathedrals and create an atmosphere that helps successive

visitors in their spiritual deliberations. But who knows

why those cathedrals were built in the places that

they were as opposed to some other place.<br><br>So

the question of whether the energy is there from the

first or there because of the people who happen to use
