Guest guest
Some more from our dear Silentsoulji shared in his shaktisadhana club. As always, our thanks for his vast knowledge and insights.

"Deepavali, the festival of lights is celebrated due to many reasons, main being the return of Lord Rama to his kingdom after killing Ravana. The people of his kingdom lighted candles and enjoyed fireworks to welcome Lord Rama.

As per Tantra also Deepavali has a significant meaning. This festival is linked with 10 Mahavidyas (specialy with mother Dhoomavati). Chaturmaas (4 months June-Sept/oct) is treated as impure period during the year and no marriage/festival is celebrated during this time. Because during this period evil energies reign the universe, it is also called Narak Chaturdashi. On the last night of this period that is on the no-moon night of deepavali, Dhoomavati leaves the universe and returns as Kamla (Laxmi-the goddess of wealth). As per Astronomy also, the Sun remains in Kanya, hence is Neecha(least powerful). Three main Jyotis (lights) are missing on this night….the power of Sun is weak, the power of moon is missing and Prana Shakti is weakned by mother Dhoomavati.

To compensate for the Tama engulfing the universe, and to welcome mother Kamla (laxami), people light up their houses, and fire works are played."

May there be so much light that no darkness can remain!

_/\_ Tat twam asi

Uma
