Hiranyavarnaam harineem suvarnarajatasrajaam.<br>

chandraam hiranmayeem lakshmeem jaatavedo ma

aavaha.<br><br> " O fire Jaataveda, bring me(send me) that

lakshmi, who has a golden body complexion,who resemles a

beautiful female deer,who is decked with golden silver

necklace,who shines like the moon and who has a captivating

golden form ! "<br><br> For this mantra,Jaatavedaagni is

the rishi.metre is anushthup and deity is

sarvasaubhagya mahalakshmi.Bija is srim,shakthi is hrim and

kilaka is klim.<br> Here the prayer is to Jataveda or

agni(fire god).In vedic school,all prayers and offerings to

all deities is madethrough fire god, rightly called

havyavaahana(celestial vehile of havis or ceremonial offering).

Mahabharatha says, " Jataveda is one for whom the vedas have

originated ".Also, veda, the word originating from root

"vid" means "to learn or know".One in whom everything

is known is Jataveda.Veda is also meant ot be

shastra. Shastra means to command.For all shastras, vedas

are the source.Vedas are based in yagnas and yagnas

on agni. Hence Jataveda is the yagnapurusha and the

perpetuator of shastras.<br> Vead assign karmic duties to

people.Here, the fruits for the karma also have to be decided

and the deity granting this.Most men perform karma

due to attachment toit's fruits and hence it(the

fruit of karma) may be called dhana(money). Jataveda is

the great karmaadhyaksha i.e. the giver ofthe fruits

of actions performed.<br> Taittareeya samhita says "

Yagno vi vishnuhu "<br>i.e. vishnu is yagna. Lakshmi is

vishnu's shakthi. Jataveda narayana is being prayed here

to obtain his sri.Also said is "Agnistu rudra

yeva"...Hene it is also the prayer toMaharudra to obtain his

grace...Uma...who is the great liberating brahmavidya.<br> Lakshmi

means one who has a distinct,distinguishing

mark,attribute or quality.Lakshmi is that symbol or mark that is

indicative of all comforts and sukha..happiness.The word

originates from "lash" dhatu meaning "to obtain". The kosha

says,lakshmi means to shine,prosperity,beauty.Sinc poetsfnd

all these qualities in lotus too,lakshmi and lotus

have been associated together.Since lakshmi represents

the chadra mandala karnika in sahasrara chakra which

is fully bloomed brahma svaadhaya itself,she is
