Guest guest
Aadhi showered a lot of love on Arunagiri, and gave him all he wanted. But slowly all the wealth, and his sister's love unfortunately spoilt him, and he resorted to low pleasures.

Aadhi loved her brother so much, that she never hesitated in giving him money whenever he asked for it. Slowly she started losing money, and had to sell all her jewellary to support her brother's need for money. Day by day the situation grew worse, and finally they had to sell their palace like house. They came to live in a small mud house.

B'cos of the various unwarranted pleasures he succumbed to, he developed a lot of diseases. He underwent various kinds of treatment but to no avail. He then heard of the glory of the river Sona which is situated near Thiruvannamalai. He then took a dip in the Holy river which is capable of curing people of all diseases. He recovered from all his diseases, but unfortunately, he went back to his old ways. This time he contracted leprosy. His skin became dark, his fingers became frail, and he became very weak. Still he didn't stop what he was doing. One day, as usual he came to his house, to ask his sister for money. But there was not a penny left. Aadhi was so frustrated that in spite of having lost all wealth and contracting various diseases, he still chased the fleeting pleasures. As there was nothing left to give, in her frustration said, " There's nothing left. Only I am left. Take me. "

This harsh sentence of his sister was an eye opener for him. He repented for all his mistakes and cried. He decided that there's no use living, and wanted to commit suicide. In 1425 A.D, in the year of Vishwasa, in the month of Thai (Jan - Feb), in the star of Krithikai, he climbed the Vallalan gopuram (a tall structure at the entrance of the TVmalai temple). Since his body was frail, he cudn't climb the entire height of the gopuram. He climbed just halfway, and jumped from there.

Before he could touch the ground, a pair of shining hands appeared and caught him. His black diseased body, became fair and healthy. A saintly figure, with Rudraksha (a garland of holy beads), and Vibuthi (Holy ash) applied all over, appeared before him and said, "Arunagiri, I know you, and also this world. Your previous karma is what saved you now." The saintly figure wrote the sacred Pranava AUM on Arunagiri's tongue with the Vel ( a kind of spear that is carried by Lord Kartikeya). He also taught Arunagiri the 'Kaumara Samaatchara' Manthra. He then asked Arunagiri to sing. He didn't know where and how to begin. The saintly figure gave him the first word, "Muthaith tharu". Then the saintly figure pointed to a direction and said, "The God there will protect you", and disappeared. When Arunagiri looked in that direction, he saw Lord Kartikeya's sannidhi (altar). He then realised that it was the Lord Himself who appeared before him.

The reason he changed instantaneously is because of the karma that he did in his previous birth. Let's have a look at his previous birth before coming back to his saintly life.

to be contd.......

Hari Aum !!!
