I agree that there are many fortunate people who have never had to face such dilemmas. I was always afraid of facing these Dharmasankat or tests of resolve. Then I was told that most of the spiritual seekers have to face these tests, which ensures that they progress in their path. When you purify gold manually you have to repeatedly melt it so that it comes to 100 % purity. Every melt removes some impurities. Does this mean that only people who face such tests improve? To site the example of Gold it depends on what you start with. Gold with less impurity has to be melted fewer number of times than gold with large amount of impurities.Or could it be the impurities are so high that there is no point in trying to purify it. So being tested or not being tested does not prove anything.

We can only pray that our principles should not be put to test and if they are put to test we have the mental courage to come out successful. Remember that the test will come in the board room facing the board ofs when your job is on the line, or while facing a band of hooligans with iron rods (in India) in a dark alley and similar situations. It will not come in the cozy environment of a club.

I believe that we should share our experiences here. This may not be relevant to you now. But if and when you are faced with a similar dilemma you will remember that there are others who faced such dilemmas. It may give you some solace.

I will write about how your Ishta devata, Guru and mantra can help in such situations.

Jai MAA KAALI !!!

Sankar
