Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! Happy Holi celebrations to all rasika devotees! This song from "Prema-Rasa-Madira", describes well the HOLI LILA (the Spring Festival) in Vraja Dhama. A Blessed Gopi is telling her Sakhi- "sakhI, sab haiyo gayO lAl hI lAl, yEsO rang calyO picikArin, yEsO uDyO gulAl, lAlI lAl, lAla bhayE lAlahu, lAla bhayI braja bAl, taruvar lAl, lAl bhayE saravara, zuka, pika lAl marAl, dhEnu lAl, braja rENu lAl bhayI, lAla bhayE saba gwAl, bAhar lAl 'kRpAlu' phAg kO, bhItar lAl gOpAl. " In this song, the Poet-Saint uses the word-"laal" very skilfully with its double meaning, creating rhyme as well as pun. Only those, who are familiar with the language can appreciate the rhyming also. 'laal' means Young Boy Sri Krisna for the inhabitants of Vraja and 'laali' meant Young Girl Srimati Radhika for them. Literally 'laal' also means red color, which also symbolises 'love'. Here the Gopi is painting the Divine picture of Holi, with her words to the friend - "O my dear, every where and every thing has become "Red" (? Krishna or ? Love?) during the celebration of Holi! As the red powder-gulal has been sprinkled on every one with great fun and sportive mood, the syringes squirted the red colored water incessantly on one another. Not only the the inanimate objects but also the animals, trees and people have become 'laal'-red! Lord Krishna and His Consort Radhaji have become red ! The Sakhis (cowherdesses) and Sakhas (cowherds) have become red! The green kadamba trees, the black Yamuna River, the green parrots, black kokilas, blue pea-cocks, and white swans all became 'laal', beautifully red. The whole herd of white cows has become red and even the very dust particle of Braja dhama simply appeared as 'laal'- surprisingly red." In the concluding verse, in the words of Sri Kripaluji, the Gopi admits some thing unique also has happened! "As all the out side surroundings of Braja Dhama have become 'laal' (red), internally the hearts, minds, and souls of all the loving devotees of Lord, being absorbed in Divine Love are dyed with 'laal Gopal' (Lord Krishna) ! " Jaya, Jaya Sri Radhey!
Guest guest
What a lovely post! we are are dyed in the color of krishna prema ! I am reminded of a verse.... The radiance of my beloved is of such a red hue That all I see is crimson everywhere. I went to see that radiance, And I have turned crimson myself! What is this 'redness' ? not the color 'red' for 'red' stands for 'passion' or rajo guna. Here 'redness' stands for the 'illumination' of the heart due to Krishna prema! nandalala is the 'lal' (darling) of nanda. His radiance also is red like the 'blazing sun' - whoever has krishna prema , his heart is full of 'redness' or illumination. A tantrik's heart region is like that of a 'thousand blazing suns' -full of radiance and illumination. YES, love of GOD 'dyes' your heart- ignorance is destroyed and illumination is restored. A kabir poem celeberates this divine ecstasy in this way... Sahib Hai Rangrej Chunri Mori Rang Daari syaahi Rang Churaye ke re Diyo Majitha Rang Dhoye Se Chhute Nahin Re Din Din Hote Surang Bhav Ke Kundi Neh Ke Jal Mein Prem Rang Dayee Bore Dukh Deh Mael Lutaye De Re Khoob Rangi JhakJhore Sahib Ne Chunri Rangi Re Preetam Chatur Sujaan Sab Kutch Un Par Vaar Dun Re Tan Man Dhan Aur Pran Kahat Kabir Rangrej Piyare Mujh Par Huye Dayal Seetal Chunri Orike Re Bhayee Haun Magan Nihaal The Master is an expert Dyer, He has colored my veil Removing the dark stains, he gave that color of love By washing which fades not but becomes brighter by the day Using water of affection in the tub of feelings, He poured the color of love Rinsing away the bodily sorrows and dirt, the Expert dyed it deftly The Master who dyed the veil is expert, beloved and great I surrender everything to Him – Body, Mind, Wealth and Life Says Kabir, The Beloved Dyer is benevolent on me Covered with this cool veil, My being is blissfully fulfilled. Kabir, in this song, points how a spiritual or inward-directed coloring is the only reality that actually grows in its beauty and luster with time. The veil, in this song, represents the sheaths of perception that cover our innermost being. These sheaths, in turn, are the mechanism of how we perceive reality. The coloring of spirituality (given to us by the Guru) indeed permeates all these sheaths. While normally our perceptions are covered by a myriad of worldly colors, the spiritual coloring, on the other hand, is unique, one-pointed and singular. That is, it replaces our dispersed perspective by a single color of love for God. This oneness removes confusion and cleanses the root of all maladies. And once an unalloyed clarity emerges even this color disappears, making us the display the glorious radiance of our inner being in all its purity and joy. courtesy- boloji.com That is why no use wearing saffron colred robes and calling oneself a 'yogi' - BEACAUSE THE ROBES MAY BE DYED BUT WHAT ABOUT THE MIND? if the mind is still full of vasanas and lust? So, on this great occasion of Holi and appearance day of Lord gAURANGA. LET US DYE OURSELVES IN THE 'COLOR' OF LORD'S LOVE!!! bolo radhe shyam ki jai! hari bol! gaura hari bol!!! Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! Thanks mataji for reminding the Divine Lovers about 'transcendental REDNESS' and Kabir Saheb. The Rasik Saint Lilasuka Bilvamangala had expressed 'REDNESS' in a different way to describe Lord Krishna's beauty : "pallavAruNa pANipaGkaja saGgi veNu ravAkulaM phulla pATala pATalI parivAdi pAda saroruham, ullasan madhurAdhara dyuti maJjarI sarasAnanaM vallavI kuca kumbha kuGkuma paGkilaM prabhum Azraye" (Sri Krishna Karnamritam 1.9) I take sole refuge in my Beloved Lord, Whose transcendental body has 'REDDISH' glow due to the smearing of auspicious KUMKUMA (saffron) paste covering the sacred bosoms of the Gopi maiden, Whose tender, newly-sprouting-leaves like 'REDDISH' Lotus hands are restless playing the Divine flute, Whose delicate, 'RED' Lotus-feet reproach the beauty of blooming bouquets of red roses, Whose Blissful face is spreading the brilliant beams of Nectar with sweet smiling 'CRIMSON' lips! ----------------- The popular Bhajan glorifying Lord Sri Ramacandra Kripalu by Saint Tulasi dasa also reveals another description: "zrI rAmacandra kRpAlu bhaja mana! haraNa bhava bhaya dAruNaM," Oh, blessed mind! Always MEDITATE upon Lord Sri Ramacandra, Who is full of GRACE and COMPASSION! HE surely ELIMINATES the FEAR of TRANSMIGRATION through worldly existence. "nava kaJjalOcana kaJja mukha kara kaJja pada kaJjAruNaM." (1) Oh, mind! ADORE the Beauty of His eyes, resembling the fresh petals of blooming RED lotus. Worship His tenderly RED, fragrant lotus face and the delicate RED lotus flowers of His hands and feet. Jaya Sri Radhey!
Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! Happy Holi Celebrations to all Premis of Lord!! Here is a delicious song from 'Holi Madhuri' of 'Prema Rasa Madira'. horee aayee ree, aree vo natha vaaree! bahuta dinana se kahati rahee tu, horee aavati bana vaaree, jo toya Dara gurujana ko to calu, jamunaa paar utar pyaaree, jo toya Dara mohoom te kachu to, sang lai calu sakhiyana saaree, manabhaayee 'kripaalu' kari le tu, yaha tero piya giri dhaaree! (Jagadguru Sri Rama Kripaluji Maharaj) In the tempting words of mischievous Lord Krishna, the Saint-Poet is convincing an innocent Gopi (bhoree Radha) who is not prepared to playing holi : " O My sweet friend! O beautiful maiden with charming nose-ring! The long awaited Spring festival of colors, Holi has arrived!! Why are you delaying to join Me in this jubiliant pastime? You have been boasting all along that you would get even with Me for My past pranks! Now the time has come! You have also threatened Me before that you would definitely defeat Me in the game and capture Me during our play of Holi. Then come forward! Keeping your word, show Me your skill!! If you are afraid of the elders at home and family etiquette, let Us cross the Yamuna River and go to the other side so that no one in Braja can find out. Come on, sweetheart! Let Us escape to remote wilderness!! Don't you trust Me or My words? Knowing Me as the Charming Cheat are you afraid of My clever tricks? If so, bring along all your group of girl friends, as many as you wish for your company and protection!" In the concluding verse, the Trickmaster, Lord Krishna softens the heart of reluctant Gopi with His sweet seducing words, "O My darling beauty! Why are you still hesitating to join your Divine Beloved in playing Holi? I have even lifted the Mountain to protect you. What possible harm can occur to you in My company? Don't forget that I am yours OWN forever, your dearmost Beloved and Soulmate! Let Us not miss this chance of playing jubiliant Holi together. You are privileged to do with Me as you please! Trust I am eternally Yours!!" raadhe! holi aayee re! pyaaree! holi aayee re!! aayeere, aayee re aree, holi aayee re aree! O nathavaaree!!! All glories to Holi Madhuri!
