Vasantha Navaratri !!!

On the eve of the Vasantha Navaratri starting tomorrow, I wish all

the members

Shub Kamnayen !!!

There are five Navarathris devoted to the worship of MAA.

1. Sharad Navaratri- This is the Navaratri, which is celebrated

during Sharad Ruthu (Sept-Oct). This is also called Maha Navaratri.

Sharad became Sharada in some places.

This celebrates slaying of Mahishasura by MAA.

Observed in Most parts of India - especially in the East and South.

In South India some observe it as slaying of Bandasura.

2.Vasantha Navaratri- This is celebrated during Vasantha Ruthu (March-

April).

This Navaratri is celebrated in North India. Vaishno Devi temple in

Jammu

observes Navaratri during this period.

3. Ashada Navaratri- This Navaratri is particularly important for all

Upasakas

of MAA VARAHI- Celebrated in July-August. This is called Guhya

Navaratri in Himachal Pradesh.

4. Vanni Navaratri- Celebrated in the forest under a Vanni tree. I

assume it is mainly for MAA VANADURGA. I do not know whether this is

being celebrated now (Nov-Dec).

5. I have heard of a fifth Navaratri- but so far nobody has been able

to throw light on this.

I shall be glad if any of the readers can advise me about this.

The Navarathris are very important for all Sakthas.

The Navarathris are special periods during which prayers to MAA have

enhanced effect.

Let us pray to MAA for her Blessings.

Jai MAA KAALI !!!

Sankar
