Jaya Sri Radhey! Namaste all!

Happy Shri Ramanavami and Vasanta Navaratri Celebrations to the

devotees allover the world!

I like to share some beautiful verses from 'Sri Rama Carita Manasa'

by the Rasik Saint Sri Tulasidasji.

Here is an episode in the Baala Kaanda describing the Divine Meeting

of Sri Ramacandra and Sita Devi Who offered prayers to Mother Parvati

before Her Swayamvara.

"Considering how hard it was to break the unyielding bow of Lord

Shiva, She proceeded sobbing silently on Her way with the image of

the Swarthy Form on Her heart.

When Lord saw Her going, that fountain of Bliss and affection and

Grace and virtue,

-then with the gentle ink of Supreme Love He traced Her infinite

beauty on the tablet of His Soul.

Sita Devi then sought Maata Bhavani's temple and adoring Her feet,

prayed to Her with clasped hands:

'jaya jaya giri raaja kishoree!

jaya mahesh mukha chandra chakoree!!

jaya gaja vadana shaDaanana maataa!

jagata janani daaminiduti gaataa!!

"Glory, all glory to You, O Daughter of the Mountain King! Glory to

You, Who gaze on the countenance of the great Lord Shiva as the

partridge on the moon!

Glory to You, O Mother of the elephant-headed Ganesha and the six-

faced Karttikeya.

O Mother of the universe with limbs as lustrous as the lightning-

flash!!

nahi tava aadi anta avasaanaa!

amita prabhaavu veda nahi jaanaa!!

bhava bhava vibhava paraabhava kaarini!

viswa vimohini svabasa vihaarini!!

Your beginning and end know no ceasing; Your infinite majesty is a

mystery even to Vedas. You are responsible for the birth, continuance

and ultimate destruction of the world; You bewitch the whole universe

and sport independently of others!

patidevataa suteeya mahu maatu prathama tava rekha!

mahimaa amita na sakahiM kahi sahasa saaradaa sesha!!

Among all good women who adore their husbands as gods, O Mother, You

rank foremost!

Your measureless majesty is more than thousand Saraswathis and

Sheshas could tell!!

sevata tohi sulabha phalacaaree,

varadaayinee puraari piaaree!

devi pooji pada kamala tumhaare,

sura nara muni saba hohim sukhaare!

The four-fold rewards of life (viz., religious merit, worldly riches,

sensuous enjoyment and liberation) are easily attainable through Your

service, O Granter of boons, Beloved of Shiva (the Slayer of

Tripura)!

All who adore Your lotus feet, O Goddess, attain happiness, be they

gods, men or Sages.

mora manoratha jaanahu neekem,

basahu sadaa ura pura saba hee kem,

keenhevu pragaTa na kaarana teheem,

asa kahi charana gahe vaideheem. '

Full well know My heart's longing, O You Whose dwelling-place is the

hearts of all; wherefore I have refrained from declaring aloud."

With these words Videha's Daughter, Sita Devi clasped the feet of the

Goddess Parvathi.

Raama Lakshmana Jaanaki,

Jaya bolo Hanuman ki!

sri raghuvar komal kamala-nayan ko

pahanaavo jaya-maala!

ye punya-muhurat svarnima avasar

phir nahi aane vaala!!

Jaya Sri Radhey! Lord Sri Ramacandra's appearance day will be

celebrated on April 21, 2002., at all Vaishnava Temples.

Here are Prayers for meditation from the 'dazAvatAra stotra' composed

by the Rasik Saint Sri Jayadeva Kaviraja in 'Gita Govindam':

vitarasi dikSu raNe dikpati kamanIyam,

dazamukha mauli baliM ramaNIyam,

kezava! dhRta rAma zarIra!

jaya jagadIza! hare!

As an opulent, desirable offering to the gods

who guard the ten directions of the world ,

O Lord, You have hurled the ten heads of

mighty Ravana in the victorius battle field.

O Lord of the Universe!

You are my Beloved Kesava,

Who has assumed the Divine Form

of Prince Ramacandra!

All Glories to You, O my Lord Hari!!

(Sri Dasavatara Stotram - verse.7)

janaka sutA kRta bUSaNa!

jita dUSaNa! e samara zamita daza kaNTha!

hare! jaya, jayadeva! hare!

O God of Victory!

O My Beloved Hari!

All glory to You!!

Having made the Divine Daughter of King Janaka,

Sitadevi as Your Own precious Adornment,

You have destroyed the ten-headed mighty demon,

Ravana in the battle defeating his general, Dooshana!

(zrI maGgalagItikA- verse. 6)

Jaya Sri Radhey!

Happy celebrations of Sri Ramanavami !

This verse from the most popular, melodious bhajan-

Sri Achyutashtakam. 5, composed by Bhagavatpada Adi Jagadguru Sri

Sankaracarya glorifies Lord Ramacandra :

rAkSasa kSobhitaH sItayA zobhito

daNDakAraNya bhU puNyatA kAraNaH,

lakSmaNen Anvito vAnaraiH sevito

'gastya sampUjito rAghavaH pAtu mAm.

My eternal Protector is Ramacandra,

the Lord of Raghu Dynasty.

He has successfully tormented

the evil demoniac forces on the earth.

His charm has been rendered more lovely by

the warm company of mother Sita Devi.

He has become the holy Source of

auspiciousness and fame even to

the wild forests of Dandaka!

He is always accompanied by

His beloved brother, Lakshmana.

He is self-lessly served by the

dedicated souls belonging to the

less evolved monkey tribes, and

is fondly worshipped by the

liberated sages like Agastya!

Sri Rama Jaya Rama Jaya Jaya Rama!

Jaya Sri Radhey!

Sri Rama Jaya Rama Jaya Jaya Rama!!

"zrIrAma rAma rAmeti rame rAme manorame

sahasra nAma tattulyaM rAma nAma varAnane"

Lord Shiva is telling His beautiful Lady, devi Parvati, that He is

always enjoying the bliss of chanting the Name - SRI RAMA,

which equals to chanting one thousand Names of Lord Vishnu.

"yatpAda paGkaja rajaH zrutibhirvimRgyaM

yannAbhi paGkaja bhavaH kamalAsanazca,

yannAma sAra rasiko bhagavAn purAris

tam rAmacandram anizaM hRdi bhAvayAmi"

(Adhyatma Ramayana I.5.47)

I fondly contemplate upon that Lord Ramacandra constantly in my

heart,

the dust of Whose lotus-feet is being searched for by the Vedas and

though born from His lotus-navel, the lotus-seated son Brahma too is

engaged in the same quest,

and the ESSENSE of Whose NAME is greatly RELISHED by Lord Shiva, the

Connoiseur of Divine Love.

Jaya Sri Radhey!
