The great wealth that exists in enlightened sages (Jnanis) is only the

subtle secret of how to be still, abiding in perfect peace as the mere

thought-free existence-consciousness "I am." Therefore, how wretched

it

will be if one greedily desires to attain from them mere worldly

pleasures,

such as gold, wealth or fame, which will only make one suffer in

delusion.

Instead of eating the fruit that is in your hand, why do you desire to

eat the unreal fruit which is seen in a mirror and which is merely a

reflection of the fruit in your hand? Is the reflected fruit an

object

which can be eaten and give real enjoyment? Similarly, instead of

drowning

deep within the heart by keenly attending to Self and thereby

enjoying the

bliss of Self which is ever shining there, why do you desire to enjoy

the

pleasures experienced through the five senses of this perishable body,

which are merely an unreal reflection of the true happiness within

you?

Jaya Sri Radhey! Namaste.

Some precious verses from 'Bhaja Govindam':

kurute gañgáságaragamanam

vrataparipálnam athava dánam,

jòánavihènaç sarvamatena

muktim na bhajati janmaùatena. (17)

One goes on pilgrimage to the place where the Gañgá joins the

sea;

or observe the religious vows with care;

or offers gifts of charity.

But if he be devoid of Divine knowledge, he does not gain release-

according to all schools of thought- even in a hundred lives.

bhagavadgètá kiòcid-adhitá

gañgáialalavakaïiká pètá,

sakûød-api yena murári-samarcá

kriyate tasya yamena na carcá.(20)

For him, who has studied the Bhagavadgitá even a little,

who has drunk a drop of the Gañgá-water, and

who has performed the worship of the Destroyer

of the demon Mura (Lord Krishna) at least once,

there is no tiff with Yama (the lord of death).

geyam gètánámasahasram

dhyeyam ùrèpatirüpam ajasram

neyam sajjana-sañge cittam

deyam dènajanáya ca vittam(27)

The Bhagavadgètá and the Sahasranáma should be sung;

the form of the Lord of Lakshmi (Sri Krishna) should always be

meditated on;

the mind should be led to the company of the good; and

wealth should be distributed among the indigent.

gurucaraïámbuja-nirbhara-bhaktaç

samsárád-acirád-bhava muktaç

sendriya-mánasa-niyamád-evam

drakúyasi nijahødayasthqam devam.(31)

Cherish the lotus feet of the Guru

And free yourself without delay

>From the entanglement of samsara.

Curbing the senses and the mind

Behold the Lord in your heart.

Adore Govinda, adore Govinda.

Adore Govinda, O fool!

Besides chanting the sacred names,

Nothing availeth on the ocean of life.

- Jagadguru SHRI ADI SHANKARACHARYA

Jaya Sri Radhey!
