Guest guest
Here is a little more on the sayings of Amma Anasuya Devi..for SVCS and any others who might be interested.. These sayings are from the book, "WOMAN OF POWER AND GRACE, Nine Astoninishing, Inspiring Luminaries of Our Time" by Timothy Conway, Ph.D... Here is something by the author, Timothy Conway about Amma: "Anasuya Devi saw only the good in people and apparently had no concept of "sin" whatsoever. Amma often declared that she had no "disciples" (_sisyas_), only "children (_sisus_). She treated all alike, even her own direct offspring, with the same ardent love. All- forgiving, simple, and motherly, she transmuted her numerous "children" into noble souls through the deep silence and bliss that strongly made itself felt in her proximity. This is, of course, one of the classic hallmarks of a Divinely-realized being. In many cases, peole's chronic psychological problems, physical diseases, financial difficulties, bad habits, addictions, and negative attitudes (pride, envy, shame, pettiness and so on) would be cleared upon and for all by a simple look or utterance from Amma. She plainly knew the inner states of all who came to her, and even fathomed the condition of people at a distance. Moreover, like a few other genuine embodiments of the Divine, Amma could unlock the innermost knots (_granthis_) of the Heart by her mere glance or presence. As Bharadwaja, her long-time well-wisher, describes the phenomenon, devotees would frequently experience "the sudden gushing of a strange, indescribable emotion that brings a flow of tears from one's eyes." Even when devotees such as Bharadwaja resisted, it was impossible to stop this flow of tears from emerging at a glance from Amma. The tears--a classic, cross-cultural sign of spiritual deepening--seemed to involve a release from an ancient burden. They were an expression of feeling finally at Home, feeling that God/dess alone IS and that God/dess is nothing but Love. Such tears, often quite explosive and long-lasting for some devotees, lent a deeply poignant quality to the blissful scene played out around Amma day after day." (p. l97-l98) TEACHINGS OF ANASUYA DEVI "Pure empathy for the suffering of others is the hallmark of divinity." (p. 207) "The Darkness which is the basis of light is the real Light." (p. 207) Spiritual" is heads, and "worldly" is tails..According to your standpoint, one side or the other appears real. One fellow thinks that Reality is behind all THIS, whereas another thinks that THIS is all there is. Both are the same to me. When they say there are two, I unfold it and say there is only ONE." (p. 209) "I say that we are not the doers, but that some _Sakti_ (Divine Power) gets things done. THAT does all the mischief while all the time making you think that you are the cause." (p. 2l0) "All forms of _sakti_ [power] are manifestations of that one _Sakti_...If you say that _Sakti_ is making you act, there must be two, you and _Sakti_; but if you say that _Sakti_ acts _as_ you, you speak [wisely] of the ONE alone." (p. 2ll) Note: WOMEN OF POWER AND GRACE can be ordered from Blue Dove Press, I believe. Kathy
Guest guest
Thank you Kathy for those wonderful excerpts. I really enjoyed reading them a lot. If possible, could you please post one or two quotes everyday? The reason I'm saying this is, many of us read the messages everyday. And whenever we have any spiritual questions or agitations, The Eternal Self - God Has His own way of answering our doubts, and when we look at the message posted in that day, there'll be some message that carries the answer that we are looking for. Not only I, but a few other members too have experienced this. We never know, what benefit people gain from the messages, though it may not be everday. But whenever it is, it surely is of immense help. I have personally benefitted a lot after joining this club. Hope to see a few quotes of Annasuya Devi everyday. Thanks, Hari Aum !!! svcs
Guest guest
- Dear SVCS, Many thanks for your message. I will try to make more posts, and if I slip up or forget, maybe you can send me an email reminder to me (Celestial_Saraswati) Yes, I do know what you mean about just "happening to" find something that is helpful (whether it is in a post, or someone telling you something, or even several people telling you the same thing within a 2-3 day period [that sometimes happens to me]). Yesterday, again I saw and experienced the hand of Divine Mother on me when I was taking film to the drugstore to be developed. There is a lady there that works the counter that I have sort of gotten to know. She has a number of very hard health problems, and through the course of our conversation, I ended up mentioning Deepak Chopra and then somehow we got onto a conversation about Ammachi, who she gone to see a few years back (I had NO IDEA that she had had any contact whatsoever with Ammachi, up to this point). Well, that of course opened up to me then telling her how my beloved Amma Karunamayi will be in my area in about 2 more weeks. So of course She knew nothing about Karunamayi and wanted info, and may even drive with me to see Her! I was so amazed about all this, but it is not the first time such a thing has happened to me (starting conversations with store people and then ultimately becoming friends and/or taking them to see Ammachi). About the sayings of Amma Anasuya Devi: I am SO GRATEFUL to my good friend Gordon Westerlund, who is actually mentioned in WOMEN OF POWER AND GRACE. I wrote to the author, Timothy Conway, one day, wanting to get information on the Matrusri Journals that were mentioned in there in connection with Gordon. Well, one thing led to another and I ended up getting Gordon's address, who is a devotee of Amma Anasuya Devi and that led to him gifting me with MANY books/materials on Amma Anasuya Devi as well as him coming to visit me from way out in California! I do believe that currently one CAN to a quarterly publication that comes out from India, if anyone wants info on this, please either post or email me privately, and I will try to gather the info up for you.
