Guest guest
"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, be merciful." There are several different versions of the Jesus Prayer. "Lord Jesus Christ, Be Merciful" is the most common one. Some might simply say "Lord Jesus" or "Jesus." Essentially one is repeating a Name of God. One can also use "Father" or "Abba" as well. This phrase or a Name of God is repeated again and again as often as is feasible, during free moments throughout the day and night, or during one's time of contemplation. This can be done either vocally or mentally with the "tongue of thought." Mentally using the Jesus Prayer is best as it's closer to God Who is spirit. Thought is beyond body, and spirit is beyond thought. With regular practice it may seem as if this Jesus Prayer or the Prayer of the Name is repeating itself automatically, or what various Saints and Apostles have called "Prayer Without Ceasing." One's whole being remains in the Presence of God, and that is the goal or intent of those who use this spiritual exercise, for the answer to this prayer-of-the-Name is God Himself. I can't say enough about how necessary it is to invoke God's Name every day: it's protection, it's choosing to abide in Divine Grace, it is a taste of heaven while still in the body, it may very well lead to visions of God's Light or other heavenly gifts. Above All it is a way to Practice the Presence of God, to be in communion with God Who is beyond the material world and all our thoughts. God is spirit and they who seek to see Him must worship in spirit and in truth. Blessings, James ILOVEGOD Jaya Sri Radhey!
