Guest guest
Q. But isn't man's effort necessary for him to go from one class to another, from one level to another? Amma: Even self-effort is the effort of the other-than-self. For example, you thought of visiting this village, but what you wanted to do in one day took four days to accomplish. It was not through any lack of effort, was it? Suppose you are studying for an examination-- sometimes, not through any lack of effort, you fail; sometimes, without knowing why, you pass unexpectedly. You are continually experiencing such things in your daily life. All this is talking for the joy of it. What others tell us when we visit other places does not get as firmly established in our minds as the lessons of our daily lives. These things do happen to us--failing when we study hard, failing to come here when we want to come, and sometimes coming unexpectedly.
