Guest guest
The following is taken from the book, "TALKS WITH AMMA, Sri Anasuya Devi", Edited by Rodney Alexander Arms, Matrusri Printers, Bapatla. WHOSE EFFORT IMPELS HUMAN EFFORT? Questioner: As God has graced me with some sakti (ability, energy), I want to devote it to a noble cause. Amma (Anasuya Devi): "HE who has given you that sakti will see to that also. Q. Even if All is God, there must be human effort (prayatna) too, mustn't there? Amma: Although man seems to have everything in his hands, in fact he has nothing. If we did not think, "There is something we can do," we would have neither desire nor satisfaction. If we did not think, "We are doing," we would have neither happiness, nor unhappiness. We feel tthat _we_ do. HE - call HIM 'God', 'Sakti', or man's 'svabhava' (inherent nature) --whatever name you use, HE makes us feel so. If we did not feel so, we could not do anything, we could neither make any effort nor feel happy with our effort. How can we be free from the 'me and mine' _bhava_ (attitude)? It is _svabhava_. Q. If we accept that all is God's grace, how are sin and virtue to be distinguished? Amma: I think that both are God. I do not consider them to be separate and different from one another, no do I consider that they belong to man." Continued...
