Jaya Sri Radhey! Namaste dear devotees.

This 'pada' from 'Prema Rasa Madira' is filled with "Sweet Humility"

and Divine longing for the Supreme Beloved:

aho hari! ohu dina kaba ye haiM ?

The surrendered devotee is asking

His Beloved Lord, Hari,

"O My Lord! When that Blessed day will come in my life?

When will I receive the ALMS of YOUR CAUSELESS GRACE?

You are the Omnipotent, Omniscient Lord, and also the BESTOWER OF

DIVINE LOVE, so I am asking You alone!"

gAvata guNa gopAla nirantara,

dRgana azru barasai haiM, aho hari ! (1)

"When will the tears of selfless love flood my eyes, while singing

Your Holy Names, such as 'giridhara! gOvinda! gOpAla!' ,

Your divine attributes, and Your bissful exploits, without

interruption? "

nayanaM galad azru dhArayA

vadanaM gadgada ruddhayA girA

pulakair nicitaM vapuH kadA

tava nAma grahaNe bhaviSyati ?

(Sikhashtakam - 6, Gauranga Mahaprabhu)

"My dear Lord, when will my eyes be flooded with tears that

constantly glide down as I remember Your Holy Name?

When will my voice falter and all the hair on my body stand erect in

transcendaental thrill as I sing Your Divine Names ?"

rUpamAdhurI nizi-dina dhyAvata,

mana bRGgI bani jai haiM, aho hari! (2)

"Absorbed day and night in the contemplation upon Your handsome

transcendental form of Cowherd Boy, when will my heart, and soul

become totally transformed and spiritualized in divine Bliss, just

like the beautiful butterfly emerging out of its cocoon leaving

behind its previous ugly form ? "

(Gita 8. 5-7)

Lord Krishna declares:

"And whoever, at the time of death, leaving the body, goes forth

REMEMBERING ME ALONE, he ATTAINS MY BEING.

There is no doubt about this."

"Whatever being a man REMEMBERS OF at the last moment when leaves his

body, THAT ALONE DOES HE ATTAIN, O Kaunteya, BEING EVER ABSORBED IN

THOUGHT THERE OF."

"THEREFORE, AT ALL TIMES THINK UPON ME ONLY and PERFORM ALL YOUR

ACTIONS (including the fighting).

WITH MIND, INTELLECT AND UNDERSTANDING SET ON ME, YOU WILL SURELY

COME TO ME."

bAta nihAri tihArI pala pala,

kalapa samAna janai haiM, aho hari! (3)

"Awaiting Your arrival every moment, impatiently looking out every

path for You, when will I feel a second as an unbearable

millennium ?"

yugAyitaM nimeSeNa caKSuSa prAvRSAyitam

zUnyAyitaM jagat sarvaM govinda! viraheNa me

Lord Caitanya laments:

"O my Govinda! In Your separation, I feel even a moment as a great,

unbearable millennium."

"Incessant tears flow from my eyes like torrents of rain and I see

the entire world as void and useless for me!"

"In my restless anxiety, a day never ends, for every moment seems

like unending milennium.

Pouring out streams of tears, my eyes are like clouds in the rainy

monsoon season."

"Bereft of Your Association, O my Govinda,

the three worlds have become VOID to me.

I feel as if I were burning alive in a slow fire."

(Caitanya Caritamrutam, Antyalila,20.39-41)

(Bhagavatam 10.31.15)

The Blessed Gopis sang in Gopika Gitam -

"O my Beloved Krishna! When You leave us during the day to the

Forests of Vraja with Your friends and cows, bereft of Your Vision,

we feel even a moment as the long millennium.

While we are enjoying the Bliss of Your Divine Charm, we curse the

unwise Lord Brahma for interrupting our pleasure by providing the

eyes with stupid eyelids!"

hAya! hAya! kari ita uta bhAjata,

nijatanu suthi bisarai haiM, aho hari!" (4)

"O My Beloved, lost in the forest fire of Your separation, when will

I roam aimlessly like a mad man, forgetting my bodily-needs, self-

identification and false-prestige ? "

The Rasik Saint Sri Jayadeva Kaviraja has said about Smt. Radhika -

"Her dwelling is like the FOREST and the garland of Her dear friends

is like the SNARE and HER HEATED SORROW with Her sighing breath is

like the SHEET OF FLAMES IN THE BURNING FOREST;

And, alas, through YOUR ABSENCE, She is like a DOE, caught in a

SNARE, in the BURNING FOREST.

Ah! How, moreover, is the Cupid, god of passion and love like the GOD

OF DEATH, YAMA, performing TIGER'S PLAY? "

(Gita Govinda Kavya 4.10. Sri Jayadeva)

yaha 'kRpAlu' jiya parama bharoso,

kabahun to hari apanai haiM, aho hari! (5)

In the concluding verse the Saint-Poet expresses his total, supreme

confidence in His Soul Mate.

"O My Lord Beloved Hari!

You alone are my unconditional refuge, sole support, and absolute

security!!!

I cherish the undying hope of attaining Your causeless Divine Grace

sooner or later!

I am absolutely confident that YOU WILL MAKE ME YOUR OWN !

You are none else but (kRpAlu) the SUPREME GRACE PERSONIFIED."

parama kAruNiko na bhavat paraH

parama zocyatamo na ca matparaH

iti viciMtya hare! mayi pAmare

yaducitaM yadunAtha! tadAcara.

(Padyavali-66, Sri Roopa Goswami)

"O MY BELOVED HARI! THERE IS NO ONE SUPREMELY GRACIOUS APART FROM

YOURSELF!

There is no one more fallen and distressed than my POOR SELF!

Keeping this in Your mind, O Lord of Yadu Dynasty,

PLEASE DO AS YOU PLEASE WITH THIS DULL STUPID! "

Jaya, Jaya Sri Radhey!
