Guest guest
I have been pondering about how the messages posted in the clubs affect us. Personally I do feel strongly about certain things. Discrimination based on sex, race, caste and nationality is one of them. Recently there have been many messages in Sadhnaa club, which I felt strongly about. Kathy wrote quoting Amma Anusuya Devi about women having to put with beatings from their husbands. I wrote about that. Again safar quoted Sankaracharya saying women are gateway to hell. And then went on to quote Meher Baba that all avatars are only men. I contradicted what in my opinion were his male chauvinistic views. But unfortunately in my opinion the views of the majority of the members seem to concur with that of safar and kathy. After all kathy and safar were quoting the so called Gods where as I am only an ordinary mortal. It does seem to me strange that there should be any discussion at all whether women are equal to men. What the discussions showed me was how outdated I am in my thinking. These are the days of the believers of God men /women. Again the club has become the exclusive domain of the followers of Meher Baba, Amma Anusuya Devi and other God men/women. Since these messages in the club affect my peace of mind, I thought it is better for me to withdraw. Not that I have been an active member. I rarely post. Now you won't hear from me again. I am not under any illusion that you will miss me. I would like to thank the founders of the club tatwamasi, silent soul, erica and svcs for their support and encouragement. I wish the club well. Guest guest
Dear Sankar, I hope you will reconsider and stay in the group. I would like to clarify a few things. First of all, I think Amma Anasuya Devi said different things to different people, and one should not take it as "black and white" for every person at every level. My good friend Gordon W, who is a great devotee of Amma Anasuya Devi himself told me that she probably said to one woman to go to court, to another to fight back, and yet, to another what I had quoted some time back. Also, I had said that it distressed me somewhat to read this. One must keep in mind that she lived in a culture where there has been much discrimination against women. I know that in rural parts of India, they even have burnt women to death because of no or low dowery, etc. This is indeed AWFUL and TERRIBLE. I believe I later posted something wherein Amma Anasuya Devi said that the man should worship the wife, which probably came as a shock to a lot of men at that time in the country. So please know that I posted because people have *asked* me to post on/about Amma Anasuya Devi, but I also hold very dear other embodiments of Divine Mother, such as Karunamayi, Anandamayi Ma, Mother Meera, Ammachi and Shree Maa. If you would like me to quote from one of these great beings, I would be happy to do so, also. I had asked if any one wanted quotes by Karunamayi, but no one responded to or about this, as far as I know. I believe that much good has been said, also, in the book by Linda Johnsen about DAUGHTERS OF THE GODDESS (that may not be the exact title..it is late and I am tired and don't have the book in front of me). Regarding Satish's post about Meher Baba--the way I look at it it may be that Meher Baba was speaking about a particular "function" of The Divine operating at a specific level or for a specific mission. I have not yet received a definition from Satish as to what was Meher's definition or interpreation of "avatar" and I wish Satish would respond to this rather than going silent, since it was he who started the conversation with these words of Meher Baba. The problem with reading only a sentence or two of a great being, and not actually BEING THERE when they are speaking to a particular person leaves a LOT of room for misunderstanding or even missing what that being might actually have really been saying. Please tell me what I can say or do to help make you feel better and give you more peace of mind. I am sorry that the postings on Amma Anasuya Devi have upset you so. Please take care. Guest guest
To Sankar and kathy, I clearly remember that it was shankar's reaction to my original posting about male and female bodies, that i wanted to be silent. And it was compassionate Kathy who impressed upon me to keep talking. All commotion arose because I could not make myself clear of what I really ment. I playfully used the word "gateway" to point out that it is an essential component of a "room" and it is always invarriably used to both "get in" and "get out" as well. To my thinlking this is a tribute to the feminine qualities. Other thing I want to clarify that Meher Baba decribed about male/female bodies in the context of spititual evolution of a soul. As to His explaination about an "Avatar" He simply used the terms.."God-Man", and "Man-God". I wish to add my appriciation of Kathy's post about Hazrat Inayat Ali. And Shanar... i have already begged for yr pardon. So let the love prevail, not the veil of our petty Egos. Love and lots of it Satish , celestial_saraswati <no_reply> wrote: > > Dear Sankar, > > I hope you will reconsider and stay in the group. > > I would like to clarify a few things. Guest guest
I, for one, am quite upset by Sankar's leaving. I feel that I have learnt a lot from him, and feel that his presence here was always a positive thing, even when he was quiet. This turn of events upsets me, to say the least. I am glad to see people posting, but I also feel that some of it has gotten to a personal level and splitting hairs. I don't want to discourage anyone from posting when they have something of their own to say. Daily quotes, stories, sayings, and references are wonderful additions to our daily practice, but I fear that they have been our main source of knowledge as of late. We can learn many things from experienced and learned folks (like Sankar) right here in our club. I don't think the purpose of this group was ever to knock someone else's guru or way of thinking. We all should keep an open mind, but that goes for *all* people. Let's expand our group and take more beautiful steps together before we lose (in more ways than one) more. There are enough people in the world that don't take us seriously and think we are way off the mark on so many things. Let's stand together. With love and light, Erica
Guest guest
Dear Erica, I agree with you, that this is a learning forum. And how do we learn? We learn through meditation, through interacting with others, through living life. Each one must have his own path and I do think that this should be respected. Having posted for a number of years in various "alt" groups on Usenet, I can tell you that posting in here and reading in here is like a beautiful breath of fresh air. I find a lot of love and caring and heart work. Sadly, I did not see much at all of this in the "alt" groups I used to post in. There was a LOT of verbal abuse and a lot of negativity and projection and behavior that bordered on the bi-polar end, in my opinion. I agree about the necessity to have an "open mind". Once I heard someone tell a story, and it was this: The mind is like a parachute, if it doesn't open, it doesn't work. :-) Take care and love to all, and a special hug to Sankar if he is listening. Guest guest
Sankar, I do not know if you are reading this. Nonetheless I wish to tell you that I am totally shocked by this sudden decision of yours. I have personally learnt a lot from your messages. This club is for sharing whatever we have learnt / learning on the quest of spirituality with the other fellow sadhakas, as we also learn along with them through their experiences. Just like how all the fingers are not alike, yet belong to the same hand, so too all of us are not alike, yet we all belong to the same family of sadhakas, who are on the same road (though may be at different levels) to Liberation. We all have different kinds of Gurus that suit our varied temperaments. What is right for one may not be right for the other, and what is wrong for one may not be wrong for the other, for right and wrong only reflect our temperaments. But that doesn't mean we derogate each other and establish our conviction alone to be real over the other's convictions. It may help if one is watchful over what one posts, and see to it that they post general teachings of their Gurus and take care in refraining from posting messages that may be controversial. We are all here for learning, and your messages have been very valuable. Hope you come back and continue to shower your knowledge on us Hari Aum !!!
