Guest guest
Duality is essential to reach the goal i.e. non-dual Brahman, the Timeless and the Formless. Sadhana is possible only in a state of duality. Once one attains to the state of non-dual, no Sadhana is necessary. God Bless All.

Radhakutir, your approach to the duality via-a-vis nonduality is very correct and shows that your vision is not illusioned by Mayavic manifestation of the Divine. But, one has to keep in mind that though the goal of every Sadhak is ONE, Sadhna may differ. To be more specific means may differ provided ends are understood. Many Bhakti Margies feel it easy to percieve the Divine as an "objective" rather than "subjective"; and they too are on the Path. So, is it not best to agree(mentally) to the fanous definition of Divine as given by Ish- Upnishad..."Neti Neti...etc.". I mean to say that niether Duality is essential to reach the goal nor the Duality is nonessential to reach the goal. Two basic essentialities are 1.True Aspiration from below (sadhak's end and 2.Divine Grace to descend for answering it. love Satish
Guest guest
Thank you radhakutir for your lovely post. This reminds me of one of the teachings I read long ago. ( I don't remember which saint's teachings it is, or in which book I read. So i'm writing the teachings in my own words) If there is a very dirty brass vessel, washing it straightaway in water will do no good. It'll only help the dirt settle more firmly onto the vessel. To remove the dirt, one must first wipe the vessel with mud. The mud thro' its abrasive quality removes all the dirt. After washing the vessel off the mud, one needs to rub tamarind against it to give it the lustre, and only finally pour water and wash it to have a clean and sparkling vessel. Pouring water in the beginning w/o removing the dirt is no good. Similarly, we have accrued a lot of bad vasanas in us over the past births. Taking to the path of Jnana straightaway will do no good. We need to first rid ourselves of the bad inherent tendencies by undertaking the path of Karma Yoga. Once we are relatively clean, we can proceed to the path of Bhakthi Yoga, which eventually paves the way to Jnana Yoga. This procees may not be a ONE lifetime process. It may involve many births depending on one's sincerity and perseverence. Thus Duality is indeed necessary when we are new to the path of spirituality and sadhna, as concentrating on nothing is impossible. Getting rid of the 'I' thought w/o knowing who the 'I' is, is impossible. Thus duality is necessary in the beginning, which will later pave the way to non-duality.
