Guest guest
The following is an excerpt from "SRI KARUNAMAYI, A Biography", p. 88- 89-- POLE STAR IN THE SPIRITUAL FIRMAMENT --_Bulasa Surya Prakasha Shastri and Sadhana Grantha Mandate, Tenali_ "I had heard about the _tapasvini_ residing at Sri Penusila Kshetram through Sri Sunku Subbalakshmaiah, a Binny cloth merchant. In February l98l, inspite of my old age, I visited the Mother to have the _darshan_ of Her lotus feet. However, I learnt in Her _ashram_ that She had been engrossed in meditation for the past three days in the forest. Therefore, with great enthusiasm, I trekked into the interior of the hilly forest track, a journey of about twelve km. It was then 8:30 a.m. At a distance, I spotted a young lady clad in a white dress, sitting under the shade of the _devadaru vriksha_. I saw that She was in a deep trance, without any trace of body consciousness. I could not even see any respiratory movement in Her body. this is how I got the first divine _darshan_ of Sri Vijayeswari Devi. Having seen the beautiful young lady, sitting like a statue, totally liberated from the cage of the body consisting of blood, flesh and bones, in communion with the Ultimate, and shining with the effulgence of _Parabrahama_, I enjoyed the solace of Parameshwara. I was moved when I saw the young girl doing hard penance in that dense forest infested by wild animals, without food, water or sleep. Ordinary men cannot attain that lofty, eternal state. Sri Vijayeswari Devi could only be a form of the Divine--I did not attempt to measure Her greatness with my ordinary human knowledge. Darkness descended. Now and then the roaring of cheetahs and tigers could be heard. At first, the pain of leaving that young girl alone in the deep dreadful forest made tears flow from my eyes. In the end, I returned to the _ashram_ with the firm conviction that no power on earth could go near the young girl who Herself had limitless power. AT that juncture, I recalled to mind, Dhruva, whose arduous austerities led Vishnu to raise him to the skies as the Pole Star. I felt confident that one day Sri Vijayeswari Devi (Karunamayi), too, would shine as a Pole Star in the Indian spiritual firmament." Blessings, Kathy @}-->--- Note: Sri Karunamayi did l0 years of meditation/tapas/penance/austerities in the forest/jungles of India...
