Guest guest
Dear Friends, This morning while going through some boxes looking for a specific item, I came across a book that a sufi initiate friend sent me a number of years ago, a book entitled, "THE CRYSTAL CHALICE, Spiritual Themes for Women, by Taj Inayat. Here is an excerpt from this book, from the chapter entitled, "Mother of the World": "The vastness of the Mother of the World makes it possible to experience her only as an archetype although she is a reality: the eternal feminine aspect of God, hidden and fragile yet most powerful. She is one being and she is many beings; she is the depth of all beings, she is the veil of God. She can only be known by diving into the ocean of silence. To understand the female aspect of God, we must come into a purely passive condition. We may then be able to feel the presence of the Mother of the World. The Mother of the World is the soul of the prophet. She is always hidden giving birth to the souls of the children of the new age, particularly those to be born on planet earth. We must be careful not to step on the toes of new age women by saying that God is male, because this cannot be understood by the mind or even the soul. The female is contained within the male in origin, then the male emerges from the female at the end. The female embodies and the male becomes embodied. The Mother of the World is always veiled. That is why she is unknown and has never been stressed until recently. By stressing her, one tries to bring her out of her seclusion, and she does not wish to be brought out of her seclusion, because she is rapt in the love of God. Few realize that one cannot reach God except through her because she has become so transparent as to be invisible. She reflects the love of God that only a woman understands (or the Messenger, who has also become passive towards God). Her invisibility emphasizes that she is nothing except in her Lord; vision gives the semblance of being and strengthens the ego of the viewer. The Mother of the World's heart, symbolized by the Holy Grail, is the reservoir of love for the universe. She transforms love into compassion and compassion into love. She transforms the sadness of human suffering, which is giving birth to God, into the joy of resurrecting Him on earth. By becoming the essence of the essence of the essence, one ends up being nothing: absorbed in the one consciousness of God. Why do people want to give a place to the Mother of the World when she doesn't want a place, give her a personality when she doesn't wish to have a personality, figure her when she doesn't wish to be figured, and make her an object of vision when she doesn't wish to be seen? The ego wants to see itself projected in an eternal principle and an image of itself. But the Mother of the World is not an image because she is too real to be an image. She breaks every image that is imposed upon her because she wants to identify with her Lord and Master. She couldn't bear to have any image other than His or to represent any principle that people like to give her. For her there is just the onenes, and one cannot find the oneness by promoting her against her will." p. 60-6l Blessings, Kathy @}-->-----
Guest guest
Friends, I have some notes to Taj Saheb's writings. Here it goes:- Notes – 1. Very illuminating statement. This is my personal conviction about gender demarcation and the Divinity of feminine principle (not females), which I had not been able to describe till date. I shall ever remain grateful for finding it in Taj Inayat's writing. (Also see "The Mother" by Sri Aurobindo) *2.Allocating a gender to God is ignorant endeavor. In fact even a "soul" has no gender unless it takes a form in animal world. At the same time it is important to bear in mind that the concept of "Avatar" (God Incarnate) has nothing to do with the definition of God. Both, the definition of God and the concept of Avatar are different. Former is not to define but realized because God is all, the definer and the definition yet beyond every concept, while the later (Avatar) is Divine way of running and refining the perceptible creation.( "Discourses" Meher Baba pt.5 – Need for male and female incarnations, pp-323-325) , celestial_saraswati <no_reply> wrote: > Dear Friends, > > This morning while going through some boxes looking for a specific > item, I came across a book that a sufi initiate friend sent me a > number of years ago, a book entitled, "THE CRYSTAL CHALICE, Spiritual > Themes for Women, by Taj Inayat.
