Guest guest
Dear Friends, Have been somewhat busy today reading and making posts from Taj Inayat's book, into this newsgroup as well as into the newsgroup brahmanshakti. In this group, kind Satish has brought to my attention Meher Baba, so I thought I would post this information about Hazrat Babajan in here (I just finished a post in brahmanshakti in which the author, Taj Inayat, discussed "women absorbed in divinity".) If interested, please check that out. Here is an excerpt from THE CRYSTAL CHALICE on Hazrat Babajan: HAZRAT BABAJAN "A native of Baluchistan (between Afghanistan and India), Hazrat Babajan traveled to India and settled in Poona under a neem tree around l900. Her powerful presence attracted many, Hindus and Muslims alike. The scanty facts about this remarkable woman's life do not reflect the deep effect Hazrat Babajan had upon my life and personality. I would call her my "fairy godmother" in some sense, but don't be deceived by this term, for her wand is like a red-hot branding iron, stamping one with the vision of God. I include her in these glimpses of spiritual women because of several personal inner encounters with her. Her spirit can be reached, but only if you are prepared to pass through the test of fire. Travelling on the mystical path, one encounters beings who have a shattering effect upon our ego-sense, that image that we believe ourselves to be. Sometimes their effect is so devastating to our sense of limitation that during the time they thrust the power of their realization upon our soul, we stand illuminated by the light of God that shines through them. Such a being is the woman dervish Hazrat Babajan, whom pilgrims pass by on the way to their heart's fulfillment. Not only does the Sufi pass by the glare of her scrutiny on the inner planes, but some have passed by her on the earth plane and received her blessing here. This wizened and haggard figure, by kissing Meher Baba on the forehead, catapulted him into spiritual life. I feel it was this same woman who beckoned Hazrat Inayat Khan to eat food from her mouth, thus bestowing upon him a spiritual blessing. Her face is chiseled by age, suffering, and annihilation, for she wishes only God to live in her. She gives you food from her mouth; you must be prepared to accept that which is despicable and holy: despicable from the point of view of the world and holy because it is made holy by consciousness of the divine Presence. If you come to her you cannot fear annihilation, otherwise you will regret having gone close to destruction. One will never receive less than the truth from her, and she can smite you out of love. She says in her dervish way: "I am the wishing well. Yes, I wish you well. All is well that is wished by God. Do you wish God well? Well then, carry out His wish. Throaw a _paisa_ (penny) in the well and in a milion years it turns to gold. That's doing without reward and wishing for someone else. If you wish for God, I will come to you." (p. l5-l6) Blessings, Kathy @}-->---
