Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! When Lord descends on earth in His Divine Incarnation, He appears along with all His entourage from Divine Abode. His Beloved parents, servants, devotees and consorts accompany Him to assist in performing the Divine Pastimes. Bhagavatam has told us that the personal door keepers of Lord Vishnu, Jaya and Vijaya, were cursed by the Sanat Kumara Sages to take birth three times as the demons in order to be killed by Lord Himself. They became Hiranyaksha and Hiranyaksipu whom Lord Vishnu personally vanquished in different incarnations. In Ramavatara, Jaya-Vijayas appeared as Ravana and Kumbhakarna who were killed by Lord again. In Krishnavatara, same devotees took birth as Sisupala and Dantavaktra whom Lord Krishna finally liberated from their material existence. Actually, the door keeper devotees of Lord Vishnu, Jaya and Vijaya, chose to become demons for THREE times instead of appearing as brahmana DEVOTEES for SEVEN births so that they could be reunited with Their Lord in less time. They did not care to become unpopular in the world as the DEMONIAC ENEMIES of Lord Vishnu but voluntarily embraced the infamy out of their PURE DEVINE LOVE. In 'Gaura Ganoddesa Dipika' it is stated that the same door-keeper devotees of Lord Vishnu of Vaikuntha, Jaya and Vijaya, had appeared as Jagai and Madhai in order to accomplish the intended Divine exploits of Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu. Sri Roopa prayed in his works: namo mahA vadAnyA ya "kRSNa prema pradAyate" kRSNAya kRSNa caitanya nAmne gauratviSe namaH Please note the selective words chosen by the Saint- 'Mahaa vadaanya' - Supremely Benevolent 'Krishna Prema Pradayite' - One Who bestows 'Krishna Prema' upon the sincere seekers. Deliverance of Jagai and Madhai (C.C) There could be more than one expaination in the deliverance lila of Jagai and Madhai. Being the intimate associate and divine expansion of the Lord, any injury to Nityananda prabhu could have been directly felt by Sri Prabhu. Lord loves His devotees more than Himself. So He could not bear the attrocity committed against His Own devotee and naturally He intended to teach a lesson to all offenders of Lord's servants by punishning the culprits. Also remember the story of Maharaja Ambarisha and the sage Durvasa Muni from Bhagavatam, 9th Canto. Even the Lord Himself could not forgive Durvasa Muni, declaring that He was ever under the control of His pure devotees and hence He was not independent. "aham bhakta parAdhino hyasvataMtra iva dvija" I have no independence as I am under the control of my loving devotees. Bhagvatam 9.4.63 The only remedy left to Durvasa was seeking the forgiveness from the pure devotee Maharaj Ambarisha who delghtfully pardoned the sage out of his natural noble disposition. Similarly Nityananda prabhu had already forgiven Jagai and Madhai and moreover prayed to Mahaprabhu for their deliverance. Out of His natural submission to the desires of His intimate associates, Lord Caitanya had bestowed Divine Grace upon those offenders, the wicked brothers. "The devotees are My heart, and I am the heart of My devotees. My devotees do not know anyone but Me; similarly I do not know anyone but My devotees." Bhagavatham 9.4.68 Knowing fully well the desire of their Lord, a pure devotee acts only according to Lord's will. He or she has no desire of his or her OWN but to fulfill Lord's Divine exploits. A devotee should take DELIGHT in EVERY ACTION of His BELOVED, and ACCEPT His GRACE in EVERY GESTURE. "krodho 'pi te 'nugraha eva saMmataH" (Srimad Bhagavatam) His anger, His indifference, and His Love are ALL ASPECTS of His GRACE. Jaya Sri Radhey! Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! Namaste. Many must have heard the most famous verse from Srimad Bhagavatam (3.2.23), which had AWAKENED the liberated Sage, Sri Sukadeva goswami disturbing his nirvikalpa samadhi and forcibly attracting him to hear more about the Gracious Lord and His Blissful exploits from the compiler of Vedas, Sri Vyasadeva. aho bakIyaM stana kAlakUTaM jighAMsayA 'pAyayadapya sAdhvI lebhe gatiM dhAtryucitAM tato 'nyaM kaM vA dayAluM zaraNaM vrajema (Bhagavatam 3.2.23) Meaning - " O, Lord! There is NO ONE Who is as LOVING and MERCIFUL as YOU, at Whose feet I can take REFUGE. You are so CAUSELESSLY Merciful, that You EVEN gave the WICKED demoness, Putana, the place of a FOSTER-MOTHER in Your abode and LIBERATED her, even though she came to You with the MURDEROUS INTENTION of suckling You with her POISONED breasts." When Lord Krishna was asked to EXPLAIN His behaviour, He offered the EXCUSE, "She suckled Me as a MOTHER, so I had to BLESS her with a REWARD befitting a MOTHER." The moment these words entered the Paramahamsa sage Sukadeva's ears, his intense absorption in the Formless, Attributeless Absolute Brahman, was broken. Observe, material words DO NOT enter the state of samadhi, but THIS verse (about Lord's divine attribute of matchless forgiveness) entered Sukadeva's samadhi, and it ended abruptly. His heart LONGED to hear MORE transcendental pastimes of Lord Krishna. The mysterious effect of Lord Krishna's gracious pastimes can ONLY be UNDERSTOOD by intimate and liberated Saints. An ordinary worldly person may hear this verse from the Bhagavatam, but experience no devotional ecstasy. But the liberated Paramahamsa Sukadeva was irresistably drawn out of his samadhi by this powerful sacred verse of Lord's Grace, and he at once set forth to look for his father Veda Vyasa to hear the ENTIRE Bhagavatam from him. - 'Premarasa Siddhant', Sri Kripaluji Maharaj Available on the net: http://jkp.org/literature/index.html Jaya Sri Radhey! Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! The Great devotee Bhishma Pitamaha, the Grand-father of Kuru Dynasty, at the time of his departure from this material world, offered the most beautiful, sublime prayers to Lord Krishna, revealing different sentiments of Divine Love. Sri Bhishmadeva prayed: "Breaking His own vow not to take up arms during Mahabharata war, Sri Krishna jumped down from the car on which He had taken His seat and, like a lion that pounces upon an elephant to kill him, darted towards me with a wheel of His chariot in His hand, the earth trembling under His feet and His upper garment dropping behind Him." "Hit with the piercing arrows of a desparado like me and bathed in blood, and with His armour broken, HE WHO RUSHED FORTH TO KILL ME, disregarding the remonstrances of Arjuna,- MAY THAT LORD MUKUNDA (the Bestower of blessedness) BE MY ETERNAL SHELTER." "MAY I IN MY LAST MOMENTS DEVELOP LOVE FOR THE LORD WHO, HAVING TAKEN UPON HIMSELF THE RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT the chariot of ARJUNA, TOOK THE CHARIOTEER'S WHIP IN ONE HAND and HELD HORSES' REINS IN ANOTHER AND LOOKED MOST ATTRACTIVE IN THAT CHARMING ROLE, WITNESSING WHICH at their last moment, they who fell on this battle field attained a form of similar to His (Sarupya Mukti)." Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! Namaste. In the Bhagavata Purana (10.32.30), when the Cowherdesses ACCUSE LORD KRISHNA OF CRUELTY FOR DESERTING THEM, HE ANSWERS: "I, THE EMBODIMENT OF MERCY- HOW CAN I BE CRUEL, AND ESPECIALLY TO MY DEVOTEES? NO, NEVER! MY DISAPPEARANCE IS ONLY A VEIL THAT I DRAW IN ORDER TO NOURISH YEARNING AND LOVE FOR ME BY THE FIRE OF SEPARATION. AS A POOR MAN HITTING BY CHANCE ON A TREASURE AND AGAIN LOOSING IT, IS CONSTANTLY BROODING OVER IT, SO I WISH THAT MY DEVOTEE SHOULD NOT FOR A MOMENT FORGET ME." Jaya Sri Radhey!
